    surprisingly good camera

    Pros: Image Stabilization, SuperMacro, ergonomic feel, 18X

    This camera is a real sleeper, in that it will surprise you when you realize its true abilities! The Image Stabilization works very well, you can shoot VERY close, and the wide angle is tremendous. The 18X lens is unbelievable! It feels good in the h...and, and is easy to operate. Even if you forget what a particular function does, it has an automatic menu that tells you. The ISO goes to a whopping 6400! It brightens up the darkest of rooms, automatically on Auto. A great camera for a beginning digital user, and a great step up from the run-of-the-mill point and shooters. Good price, too. Read more Less

    Pros: Shoot like the "big guys", sans the hassle.

    Cons: None, for the intended purpose.

    If one is looking for very good results with out the hassle of extra lenses or even having to carry a support, this camera is a great deal! No it is not equiped with the large chip of a higher end DSLR, but if you intended use is to display photos on... the net or fill an album book with quality photos, you will not be dissatisfied! This camera has many great features, is a bit more compact than the DSLR's and can range from 27mm to 286mm (35mm eq) at the flick of a switch. Include the image stabilization and you have the perfect "walk about" package. Great photos, no back pack!!! Read more Less

    Pros: it gives the shots i need

    Cons: the greatest camera

    i have to say that the fujifilm s8000 is the best camera ever it gives me the shots i want whether its nature or doing portraits it gives the most beautiful macro shots ever i wouldnt trade my s8000 for anything

    Close to a DSLR

    I purchased this to upgrade from my 5 year old 3mp Olympus C720uz. I was worried because of the lens quality that you get from Olympus. So far I have no complaints about my new Fuji. The features on this camera are amazing. It is so close to a DSLR b...ut without the lens changing and the cost. Quality is not quite going to beat a DSLR though, even a compact megazoom has its limitations. Being male, I did not really read the manual until I came across things I didn't know about but it is so easy to use. The presets are good, though I use the manual setting. Shutter and apeture ranges are good and should suit most conditions. Macro facility is good too. I am looking forward to a few good years with this camera. After searching reviews and price comparisons I managed to pick this up for £135 at amazon.co.uk Can you moan at these features and quality for that price? I think not. Read more Less

    Pros: Great Macro, Lots of options

    Cons: The quality of the image is a little problem for me

    I bought the camera for quite cheap and it serves pretty well compared to high end cameras. I especially love the super macro function which needs no special lens. I do like the fact you can get a good zoom (18x). Im actually quite new to photography... so I had no idea you could get multiple lens for DSLRs until I saw a pro camera. I would prefer the image quality to be better as the dust can be quite annoying when loading the pictures. Ive compared the image quality to pro and of course they have the dust removal function. But thats about the only problem I have with it. For the price and what you get for it I say its more than better value. Read more Less

    Pros: 18x, macro, light, double AA batteries

    Cons: Durability, mode dial

    The first year I had this excellent camera, it spent two months in the shop, since the mode dial fell off; with the first one I bought, from Amazon, the mode dial fell off when I took it out of the box. After the repair, the camera worked well but re...cently, the mode dial, while it did not fall off, failed to work most of the time, stuck on the natural light mode. I don't recommend this camera. As a replacement, I bought a Nikon CoolPix P-90 and I'm really impressed with it. Read more Less
