    Excellent Camera

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Dec 17, 2003 | 37 out of 38 found this Fujifilm FinePix S7000 review helpful

Pros: High quality images. Setup was a snap and easy to use.

Cons: Only comes with a 16MB card.

After looking at the Minolta A1 and the Canon digital Rebel I came accross this one. After playing with them I found that the other two were too over priced for what you can get with this one. As per not being able to change lenzes, it was a feature ...that didn't matter too much for me. I have an SLR camera and I don't use it as much due to to not wanting to carry all the lenzes. So, I bought this camera. Camera is nicely balanced not too small, not too big and not too heavy compared to the others. Setup was a snap and easy to use. Took a few images really quick and downloaded them. Excellent high quality images. The only draw back is that it came with a 16Mb X-d Card. Took care of that with a purchase of a 256Mb Xd Card. So other than that, excellent camera for the money. Read more Less

    Great Choice

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Feb 4, 2004 | 24 out of 24 found this Fujifilm FinePix S7000 review helpful

Pros: Many, more than can be listed on one line

Cons: I haven't found any negative points about the camera.

I have always owned 35mm SLRs, a Nikon and a Minolta. Digital photography is a new concept and exciting experience to me. The Quality of the photos is excellent even in the 3 Megapixel mode, the 6Meg mode is even better especially when cropping segm...ents of pictures for enlargement. The overall features of the camera exceeds my expectations. The lens is definitely high quality, the Optical & Digital Zooms are fully functional, the viewfinder is a good size and extremely high resolution. The Camera uses 4 ea AA batteries, which I consider a plus, I use the Duracell Rechargeable Accu NiMH batteries and I keep a couple spare sets in the bag. The Camera has a function to deplete the batteries of charge and any memory, effectively restoring the batteries to take a maximum charge. Or, you can always get your hands on AA batteries. The Camera has two slots for both xD & CompactFlash cards and you can choose which card to write to. You put two (2ea.) 512Meg or 1Gig cards in and you won't be concerned about storage capacity, power becomes the problem. The Automatic and Manual Focus modes are a plus, the shutter speed is better than most more expensive cameras. Automatic Focusing is excellent. The software is very user friendly and fun to work with. I like the way the Camera feels, the appearance and the overall design. Fuji seems to have what it takes to put the technology together to develop a supurb Digital Camera. Until it malfunctions, I can't evaluate their Customer Service and Warranty, but somehow, I think Fugi has a handle on that, too!As a point and shoot camera, it's fantastic; if you want to get "technical photography", it's even better. The Fujifilm FinePix S7000 is a lot of Camera for the buck!Bob Lamb - Warner Robins, GA Read more Less

Pros: This camera is smarter than I am

Cons: no volume control on movie sound

I first bought an S5000 and loved it. Then I saw the S7000 and traded up. After one month and 2000 frames I am still finding new features that make having this camera so much fun. It's with me 24/7 at work, home and play. Thank you Fuji. This o...ne is a winner!Tom Langston-Riverside Ca Read more Less

    OUTSTANDING Digital Camera!

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Mar 16, 2004 | 10 out of 10 found this Fujifilm FinePix S7000 review helpful

Pros: Quality Made In Japan, Great Info & Support Website, 4 AA Batteries, 2 Media Slots for XD or Microdrive, Great Controls, Black Color

    Cons: Haven't Found Any Yet

The first digital camera I bought was several years ago for my young daughter to be able to take lots of pictures (WITHOUT the cost of film processing)of her friends, etc. It was a Fujifilm, 1 mp camera. It was easy to use and made in Japan, where ...quality cameras have been made for a long time. The quality of the pictures was good enough for most of her photo opportunities, and was good enough for mom and dad to borrow it quite a bit too. It takes AA batteries and a Smartcard, which are both easy to find, and relatively inexpensive. It is a great little camera that has never failed us, and that my daughter still uses extensively. Recently, I went out looking to switch from using the Nikon 6006 SLR I bought while on Okinawa years ago, to a good quality digital camera my wife and I could use. Due to our good experience with my daughter's Fujifilm camera, I was leaning towards this company again, but I looked at Olympus and Canon as well (I wanted to stay with companies known for their long-time production of CAMERAS, so I didn't look at Sony, Panasonic, Casio, etc.). Most of these other cameras appeared to be quality made, but all of them required special batteries, which I didn't want to have to hunt down when needed. I also didn't want to have to spend extra to buy these types of batteries. Many of these cameras were made in places other than Japan (or other countries known for good cameras and electronics, like the US, Germany), like China, Taiwan, etc. A friend of ours has a Fujifilm S3000, which I liked, but I decided on one step up for better resolution, the S5000. I was going to buy the S5000 for almost $400, when I saw the S7000 on sale at Sears. It was listed at $669 instead of the $700 I had seen it for most everywhere else. I also got another 10% off for a special sale Sears was having, and then sent in a Fujifilm rebate for another $100. I ended up getting a MUCH better, more full-featured camera than the S5000 for only about $100 more. I went online to www.fujifilm.com, and found alot of info about this camera, its available accessories, and about digital photography. I bought two 64 mb XD cards at Sam's Club for about $83 each, and will keep the 16 mb card that came with it as a backup. Interestingly enough, the S7000 has a second slot which will take a CF Type I or II card (I won't buy one of them because I read - on the Fujifilm website - that they can drain power from the batteries even when the camera is off), or a IBM or Hitachi microdrive (an actual tiny hard disk drive) in the 1 gb to 4 gb range. Amazing technology! We LOVE our Fujifilm S7000 because it's practical (uses AA batteries), well-made, full-featured, reasonably priced (especially when on sale), easy to use, and backed by a company who's been in the business a long time. Great Deal on Great Quality

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Sep 5, 2004 | 5 out of 5 found this Fujifilm FinePix S7000 review helpful

    Pros: Features, megapixels, manual options

Cons: Battery life, questionable sharpness, difficult focus ring

There's no doubt, this camera gives you professional quality and features for an amazing price. It's a solid piece of equipment that will do you well. It's been a real workhorse for me, ranging from studio shoots to rock-climbing trips.I ...need a camera with many manual options and high megapixels, and this has it all. Manual focus, exposure, ISO, color balance... my only complaint is the lazy focus ring - you twist it, and a half-second passes before it adjusts. Makes on-the-fly focusing tough. Sometimes, I would manually focus with a tight depth of field, and the "preview" would look nothing like the shot. So in the end, it may be best to let the autofocus call the shots (focus, like exposure, can be locked thank God).My other complaint is the fuzziness of the image when shooting at highest quality. It's no problem if you're printing at 300dpi, 11x17 - anything larger than that begins to look muddy. Bring the images into Photoshop for a little "unsharp mask" tooling, and it's fine. But these issues do not diminish the overall quality of this camera. I've shot movie posters, fashion stills, panoramas and more with it, and it's never let me down. Bottom line: pro photographers will enjoy the features and quality, but recreationists should stick with a simpler/cheaper model. Read more Less

    Great camera for good price

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Jun 2, 2004 | 2 out of 2 found this Fujifilm FinePix S7000 review helpful

    Pros: Everything is very good

    Cons: Spend batteries very fast.

This is the best camera I have had. Get battery charger with adapter to your car; 12 rechargeables batteries and enjoy it. With the continuous shooting you will get good pictures.

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Feb 16, 2004 | 2 out of 2 found this Fujifilm FinePix S7000 review helpful

    Pros: Too many to list.

Cons: In need of an external flash.

I sold my Nikon SLR and upgraded my year-old digital for the new S7000 with absolutely no regrets. The pictures are amazing, the size is great and the features are well beyond what I was looking for. This is definitely a camera you would never get ...tired of. Oh, and the best part...my husband is the last person to hand a camera to for a quick shot, but with the 6mp and 12mp options I can crop and get pics you never would know he took! Read more Less
