Pros: Does what I need it to
Cons: manual focus is pretty much useless
Takes great pictures. On occasion the sky may get washed out, but that seems to be a problem with a lot of digital cameras. I shoot mostly scenic type shots so shutter lag isn't a problem but it seems to focus pretty quickly most of the time. When it can't auto focus I try and aim at something in the foreground to get a lock. The only gripe I have with it is when it can't auto focus, pictures of clouds or smoke, switching to manual focus isn't a big help. If it was a true manual focus that would be great but it electronically enlarges the middle of the frame on the viewfinder and then you turn the focus ring one way or the other to try and get a focus. I also wish that the distance was measured in good ole feet instead of meters.
Pros: Power of an dslr.
Cons: When zoomed,it takes slow action to focus.
I had this camera for about a DAY now,and i can tell that its a very good camera.I went out and took alot of pictures. The camera is great for photography.Mind you,i am only 15 years old.And this camera is for me to start out as a beginner in photography.Even though not an slr, its functions are like an slr.I've used canon eos 400d and nikon d40 and i can say this camera is very good.
It also uses natural light to enhance the natural ambience when shots are taken in low-light conditions.
Another good thing is that its auto focus is accurate. But sometimes, when zoomed, the focus seems slow in adapting the picture.
So far,ive tried high shooting speed and there is no problem as no pictures were blurred.
This is a great camera to work on photography skills.I strongly recommend this camera for all those starters, like me.
Pros: Excellent picture quality from only 6.3MP. Comfortable ruberised grip. Manual Zoom control. 10.7 Optical zoom. Battery life. Face Detection, RAW capability. Great Macro and Super Macro shots! Great sensor size and resolution (MP) match! Excellent value for money!
Cons: ISO performance against its peers and even Canon 400D DSLR. Noise reduction software leaves smears or blotches on pics when zooming into picture. Continuous shooting slow on pic-pic times. Refocussing in fast motion slow. Color representation not too great when flash in not used under less than full sun situations (ISO 100) (magenta, red etc.)
If Internal Memory was more (say 128MB - more the better) true continuous shooting would be awesome â approaching SLR speed. Image stabilization would be a bonus in some cases. The feel of the controls can perhaps be a little more rock solid.
Pros: Good pictures in most light, full-auto with good manual control ability
Cons: CCD/Shutter failed after 1 month
Purchased this camera from an online retailer 6 weeks before a once-in-a-lifetime vacation to Glacier National Park. The imaging system failed after one month, and had to be shipped to NJ for repair. It was not repaired in time to take on the trip, in fact did not arrive back for 2 months, so I was very disappointed. One other quality/design issue, the battery door does occasionally open if bumped and dump the batteries.
Since I got it back, everything seems to work alright. I have taken pictures of the lunar eclipse and Perseid meteor shower with very good results (using manual settings to get the best results) and very good exposures in a variety of light conditions. Autofocus is fairly good, but it does have problems focusing on my chocolate Lab in interior shots, or other low contrast shots. The flash provides good illumination without washing out the pictures. I use standard 58mm filters screwed on to the end of the lens, and I really like that the batteries are not proprietary, standard AA NiMH.
Pros: good img quality, big zoom range, fast in use etc.
Cons: maybe no optical stabilization
Okay, I wanted something more that just a "point-and-shoot&quo
t; camera and for reasonable money. After all that research the S600fd/S6500fd seemed as the best for me and now, when I already got it, must say I love it.
It's really nice it has bigger sensor and less pixels that many other fixed-lens cameras. Due to this fact the image quality is fine, even when higher ISO is used, that compensate that lack of optical stabilization. It's impressively fast - immediately prepared for shooting and has no shutter lag. Zoom range is decent - and the 28 mm (35 mm equiv.) comes in handy for me as I shoot mostly landscapes. Mechanically linked zoom is more than useful. Thanks to its size and weight, it's very easy to hold.
Really, I wouldn't choose any better for that price.
Pros: Best value camera on the market today
Cons: No image stabilser
Had this camera about 3 months now and have been really pleased with it. I paid around £150 from Amazon.co.uk and you won't find anything better for the money. The output is comparable to some of the bottom-end DSLRs that cost almost 3 times as much.
The zoom is fantastic, the batteries last for ages (if you get a good set of rechargeables), it feels like a very good quality piece of kit. If you put it on Auto mode an idiot could use it and get amazing results. If you know a bit more about photography you can fiddle 'till your heart's content with all the manual settings.
I would certainly recommend this camera to anyone.
Here's a picture I took that shows what the S6500fd can do:

Pros: +
Cons: +
To be honest when I bought it because of it's price... But from there on... I kept been disapointed POSITIVELY.... What I expected it was just a simple digital camera... But actually it is a great one... If you don't have the money for a Cannon or a Nikon but you want to make professional pictures, this is one of the cameras for it... And actually you can get loads of things for accesories for it... And IF you in case grow it out, you can get like the S9500fd, and the extra features you bought will work with them.... Great....
Pros: very fast shutter speed
Cons: all function a little complicated
This is the camera to beat if possible. There is no better camera on the market. This is a semi pro camera for dummies. GREAT
Pros: Super Zoom, Manual Controls, ISO levels for Low Light, AAA batteries and many more
Cons: Optical Stabilization (many others have already mentioned it)
I used this camera for 3 Dance programs, the pictures have have come out very nice. This camera produces stunning pictures in low light (upto ISO 1600). This is a very good camera for the money. It also has RAW format which I have to try out yet. With the manual zoom it makes me feel as a Pro (still an ameture).
