Pros: screen, ease of handling, T/W is at shooting finger tip
Cons: can't think of one
My husband bought this camera as a gift for me
I love to photograph all parts of our lives grand daughter dancing grand son riding his big wheel, hunting fishing etc this camera is always with me.
Now here is a neat thing the SD card fits into my husband's Wii (kids gave it to him - Tiger Woods golfer) anyway We can have a wonderful slide show complete with music whenever we get together.
So if you are over fifty with not so graceful hands from stiffing joints this is a camera you will enjoy.
Pros: Versatility, optical & digital zoom, Macro-setting
Cons: must reset date & time after replacing batteries
I've had this camera for over 4 years and have taken over 20,000 photos with it. I immediately replaced the original media card with a much larger capacity card -which I still use. Original list price was around $500 and I purchased the camera online from an established NYC camera store for around $350. Best money I have ever spent!
The macro feature combined with the digital zoom and in-camera framing and cropping of captured images is wonderful - especially if you intend to print photos directly from your card or camera to a printer without routing either through a computer.
I take a lot of close-up details of objects and the camera is great for this. Without cropping through my PC I can move to as close as 75 mm from an object, capture an image down to 75 mm wide (around 65 mm is actually revealed in the view finder) and then with the digital zoom feature I can crop and center this to completely fill up my photo with an image only 35 mm wide... think of this in terms of a detailed close-up of only 2 finger nails or a small wrist watch face! That's without even running through any PC photo cropping! - and the images still remain very sharp.
This mid-priced camera offers more settings than I will ever need or have the time to learn or explore, so it is far from basic. Will even capture several minutes of video (including sound! from a built in mic) and has a built in flash for still photos. You can just set it on AUTO so even someone who has never held a camera before can point-and-shoot fine sharp auto-focused photos with accurate exposures.
Shoot with shutter speeds of 1/2000 sec in bright light or verrrrryyyy slow to shoot in very dim lighting without a flash.
Very nice lenses. I always use the optional lens hood to protect the telescoping zoom lenses and prevent flare from side lighting, and have always left a simple UV filter on the large hood to keep the entire lens assembly dust free and protected from accidental damage.
The XD memory card is the size of a postage stamp (only 20 x 25 x 2 mm.)and mine will hold up to 256 Mb - for hundreds of images. Newer XD cards will hold up to 1 Gb! So, you can hold your entire vacation on a single card, or carry a few for extensive storage when travelling. An auxiliary AC cord is included and also a camera to PC cord but you can just push the XD card into the drive port slots of many PCs or printers. (In my case, I have an HP for both.)
I have been recently using the manual settings for various interior light options which is also a good feature for unexpected ambient low light shooting without a distracting flash. The tiny pop-up flash will easily brightly light up a room.
I could go on forever about this camera. Suffice it to say, it's a great buy and I would replace it without hesitation. It has been around for several years now, so I would expect close-outs are available online for truly amazing bargain prices.
Pros: Image Quality, Shutter Speed, Everything!
Cons: When You Take The Batterys Out, You Have To Reset The Date
This is the best camera in the world in my opinion. It sleek, handles like a dream, light, has lots of power, everything.
Pros: works good for about one year
Cons: problems shortly after warranty expires
The Fuji S5000 has a memory chip in it which retains the day/date/time information, but after 12 months to 2 years this chip losses its capacity to hold a charge therefore losing the date/time. Fuji wants $250 to replace the chip! My camera failed a few weeks out of warranty. Each time I change batteries, I have to reset date and time. What a pain in the neck!
Pros: none
Cons: none
I got my Fuji camera for Christmas and I really have enjoyed using it. In fact its real easy to use. The best part of this camera is the fact that your pics are high resolution. If there's a drawback its the video function. It will fill up an entire memory card. But aside from that its a wonderful camera to use.
Pros: large feature set
Cons: a bit bulky
Like most Fujifilm cameras it takes great photos. The color is excellent and macro rocks. 10x optical zoom is hard to beat. You can adjust just about everything on this camera but there's also great auto modes to make it easy. The audio notation feature is pretty cool when you want to capture ambient noises, great for nature shots. Memory maxes out at 512MB for this model but the prices are falling quick. 512MB will hold around 600 pics at average size/quality or about 15 minutes of video.
Pros: Resolution, Easy of use
Cons: Battery Life
I purchased this camera for work, but find I use it more and more for personal use. The 6.1 Resolution is CRYSTAL CLEAR, I also find the lower megapixals (2 or 3) every bit as clear. The camera is very easy to use and I have had no problems uploading my picture to my PC's. All of my desktop themes are of photo I took with this camera, (I have a 19 in screen) and the DETAILS of the photo are INCREDIBLE, again CRYSTAL CLEAR. I HIGHLY recommend this camera. (The ONLY, and I really do mean only, knock) is the battery life, when using the flash, However the camera uses 4 AA Batteries so just carry extra ones.
Pros: Price and zoom
Cons: only a 3megapixel
I looked at many camera and for the price this was the best and so far I am very happy with the camera! I have even blown up a few of my pics to 12x18 and they look great.
One feature I wish more of these camera would have is a remote control!
Pros: 10X zoom, first 5/ last 5 continuous mode, great construction
Cons: macro mode 10cm, wide angle 37mm
Bought S5000 since the launching day on 12th August last year. Today is the anniversary for my beloved.
Previously owned several DC but never last for more than 6 months. DC technology was changing too fast. However, I never thought than S5000 will be still with me after 12 months!
The reason is this DC is like the artist previously known as "Prince". His music is beyond the time at the time created. S5000 is also far beyond the time. With Fuji Super CCD HR 4th generation, 10X optical zoom, x-d card, excellant battery life, fast burst mode (continuous shooting), full exposure manual control (aperture priority, shutter speed priority, program priority, full manual), SLR-like contruction and feel, this S5000 is the monster at the time.
Fuji announced on 1st August 2004 that they will replace S5000 with S5500. Good news? NO!
How can conventional ccd sensor replace Fuji Super CCD HR sensor? (you will miss the great picture quality)
How can top/final 3 burst mode replace S5000 top/final 5 burst mode and slower busrt mode speed replace S5000 5 frame per second? (you will miss all the action shoot)
How can S5500 flash range of only 4.2 meter replace S5000 up to 6m flash range? (you will miss most of the night shoot at dinning ballroom)
How can S5500 24 bit color range replace s5000 36 bit color range? (you will miss the excellant Fuji color)
I just don't believe that Fujifilm call this downgraded S5500 as my beloved S5000 replacement.
For me, I will stick with my S5000 before upgrade to digital SLR.
Pros: Price, picture quality, overall zoom
Cons: Plastic case a little on the cheap side
This is my second Fuji digital camera. Was very happy with the first one, passed it on to another person and purchased this one. A lot of features for the money. Yes the xd memory cards are more expensive, the price will probably drop as time goes by. I have had no problems with either Fuji camera I've owned with thousands of pictures taken.
Plastic case seems a little cheap, but no problems with it thus far.
Pros: versatility, comfortable feel, easy to use
Cons: power saver mode
Great little camera. Unable to buy Nikon D100 at this time due to finances, but wanted a digital that would be easy to use and have some additional features. My husband and I fought over it all weekend on a recent trip to Charleston. Loved the black and white capability. The only real drawback is the power saver mode. Just when you're ready to take the next photo, you have to restart the camera.
Pros: Everything
Cons: the XD picture card that comes with it is a little to small
This camera is so stinkin easy to use! I absolutely love it. For the money, I don't think it can be beaten. The only problem I've had is I have to download my pictures very frequently, because the picture card that comes with it is a little small. But you can always buy a 128mb card for about $50. I just haven't gotten around to it yet. You will love this camera.
