    Pros: weight, zoom, macro

Cons: XD memory card not as cheap other memory cards.

I researched by looking at other reviews. Compared to the Sony FD97 that I used this is fantastic. I am not a pro by far but this has enough features to accomplish almost anyones needs.Buy a larger XD card, 128M at a minimum. If your looking at doing ...Pro photography get the S7000 or a true digital SLR.For the regular user, this is all you'll need. Pros: Zoom, quick snap shots, and great handle

    Cons: n/a

If you are looking for a great deal for a DSLR camera, this is it, look no further, because this camera is IT. This camera can also provide you with a great learning experience, no only will it tell you when the shutter speed is too fast, but it can ...even tell you if the aperture is not enough to take a excellent photo, and with 3.1 effective megapixels, your photos will print out better than Kodak prints. Nice camera

By Yahoo! Shopping User  May 6, 2004 | 3 out of 3 found this Fujifilm FinePix S5000 review helpful

Pros: versatility, comfortable feel, easy to use

    Cons: power saver mode

Great little camera. Unable to buy Nikon D100 at this time due to finances, but wanted a digital that would be easy to use and have some additional features. My husband and I fought over it all weekend on a recent trip to Charleston. Loved the bla...ck and white capability. The only real drawback is the power saver mode. Just when you're ready to take the next photo, you have to restart the camera. Read more Less

    Pros: S5000

    Cons: S5000

When I first started into digital photogrpahy I bought an HP 733 and believe me , dont go there that camera is hopeless. You must be saying why's that??Well for starters battries waste in minutes even when using it , just don't go there take ...my advice;-). Now Regarding to the S5000 this camera is a WOW with 22x total zoom having 10x optical zoom is an asset. Pictures are crystal clear and sharp. XD memeory is great yes abit more expensive but great. One thing is that before you use this camera you need to read the manaul since my previous camera was just point and shoot. This baby lets you do wat ever you want full auto mode or till evey setting @ your own hands FOCUS, Aperture, Shutter speeds and a lot of more FUNCTIONS. In one word the camera is EXTRODNARY!!. Go and BUY it! Read more Less

    Incredible Camera

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Apr 5, 2004 | 2 out of 2 found this Fujifilm FinePix S5000 review helpful

    Pros: Everything

Cons: the XD picture card that comes with it is a little to small

This camera is so stinkin easy to use! I absolutely love it. For the money, I don't think it can be beaten. The only problem I've had is I have to download my pictures very frequently, because the picture card that comes with it is a littl...e small. But you can always buy a 128mb card for about $50. I just haven't gotten around to it yet. You will love this camera. Read more Less

    Pros: large feature set

    Cons: a bit bulky

Like most Fujifilm cameras it takes great photos. The color is excellent and macro rocks. 10x optical zoom is hard to beat. You can adjust just about everything on this camera but there's also great auto modes to make it easy. The audio notation ...feature is pretty cool when you want to capture ambient noises, great for nature shots. Memory maxes out at 512MB for this model but the prices are falling quick. 512MB will hold around 600 pics at average size/quality or about 15 minutes of video. Read more Less

    Pros: Price and zoom

    Cons: only a 3megapixel

I looked at many camera and for the price this was the best and so far I am very happy with the camera! I have even blown up a few of my pics to 12x18 and they look great.
One feature I wish more of these camera would have is a remote control!

GREAT buy - loaded with features!

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Nov 20, 2008

Pros: Versatility, optical & digital zoom, Macro-setting

Cons: must reset date & time after replacing batteries

I've had this camera for over 4 years and have taken over 20,000 photos with it. I immediately replaced the original media card with a much larger capacity card -which I still use. Original list price was around $500 and I purchased the camera on...line from an established NYC camera store for around $350. Best money I have ever spent! The macro feature combined with the digital zoom and in-camera framing and cropping of captured images is wonderful - especially if you intend to print photos directly from your card or camera to a printer without routing either through a computer. I take a lot of close-up details of objects and the camera is great for this. Without cropping through my PC I can move to as close as 75 mm from an object, capture an image down to 75 mm wide (around 65 mm is actually revealed in the view finder) and then with the digital zoom feature I can crop and center this to completely fill up my photo with an image only 35 mm wide... think of this in terms of a detailed close-up of only 2 finger nails or a small wrist watch face! That's without even running through any PC photo cropping! - and the images still remain very sharp. This mid-priced camera offers more settings than I will ever need or have the time to learn or explore, so it is far from basic. Will even capture several minutes of video (including sound! from a built in mic) and has a built in flash for still photos. You can just set it on AUTO so even someone who has never held a camera before can point-and-shoot fine sharp auto-focused photos with accurate exposures. Shoot with shutter speeds of 1/2000 sec in bright light or verrrrryyyy slow to shoot in very dim lighting without a flash. Very nice lenses. I always use the optional lens hood to protect the telescoping zoom lenses and prevent flare from side lighting, and have always left a simple UV filter on the large hood to keep the entire lens assembly dust free and protected from accidental damage. The XD memory card is the size of a postage stamp (only 20 x 25 x 2 mm.)and mine will hold up to 256 Mb - for hundreds of images. Newer XD cards will hold up to 1 Gb! So, you can hold your entire vacation on a single card, or carry a few for extensive storage when travelling. An auxiliary AC cord is included and also a camera to PC cord but you can just push the XD card into the drive port slots of many PCs or printers. (In my case, I have an HP for both.) I have been recently using the manual settings for various interior light options which is also a good feature for unexpected ambient low light shooting without a distracting flash. The tiny pop-up flash will easily brightly light up a room. I could go on forever about this camera. Suffice it to say, it's a great buy and I would replace it without hesitation. It has been around for several years now, so I would expect close-outs are available online for truly amazing bargain prices. Read more Less
