Pros: Ease of use, Battery Life (4+hours), Durability, Size
Cons: Advanced settings require reading the manual, Requires 4 batteries
This is a very balanced camera. It's 4MP is kinda low, but I can get excellent zoom shots (6x optical) with no loss of quality, and it handles motion well (Sport Mode). It has enough heft and size to feel comfortable, without being heavy (6-8 hours shooting, and my finger was the only thing sore). Great macro (capture aphids and see ant's eyes), and the zoom is awesome for macro-like shots at a distance.
For sample photos, see my Flikr... it's almost the only thing I use.

Pros: works like a charm, easy to use.
Cons: the camrea just doesn't last.
Me and my wife bought this camrea with some of our wedding money to snap those moments that we all should keep. Like others on this site it only took about 8 to 12 months to turn off and never come back on. Fixing would be more then it's worth and now it just sets up in a closet. Good camrea but crappy parts. DON'T BUY FUJIFILM
Pros: easy to use
Cons: will not power on after 8 months os use
will not power on i barely used this camera and it is dead already!
Pros: everything I wanted. 4MP and 6x optical zoom
Cons: no sound in video mode
I bought the camera in 2005 for about $210 at walmart. Bought an expanded memory card right away, and later two sets of rechargeable batteries. I still have the same batteries, still use the camera (nearly every day) and can't find anything wrong with it. I use it to "scan" text, point-n-shoot scenery, and love the optical zoom.
Pros: Affordable, easy to use, great image quality, compact but professional quality
Cons: Battery life, size of memory
I lov ethis camera and will only upgarde to get more megapixles and a few other features (I am getting very serious about my photography now and this camera can do just about everything but I bought it when the megapixle rating was high for industry standards, with time everything upgrades) I will continue with the Fuji line, I have ALWAYS experienced good price, quality pictures, and easy of use with their products - from disposable cameras to 35 mm and digital! I would only improve the battery drain on this camera if possible, also I upgraded automatically to 1G but I think it should come with this amount! I find that I will start using 2G due to the type of shoots and the convinience of being able to continue shooting rather than stopping and transferring photos!
Pros: Manual Features
Cons: No longer functioning at all
I bought this camera a year and a half ago and the camera no longer works. It will not power on at all, similar to another users comments on this site. I paid over $300 for this camera and I'n not at all impressed that it hasn't made it even two years. The warranty only covers the first year, and it won't be worth the cost of fixing it. I won't be buying Fuji again.
Pros: Looks nice, image quality is excellent, user-friendly.
Cons: Poor with batteries, poor Fuji customer service.
The camera for the most part is great. It looks professional, the images are sharp, and the finepix software is easy to use. The only technical cons are that the camera places an over reliance on flash, without the flash, the pictures are often distorted. And the batteries drain quickly so invest in a battery recharger.
6 months ago I would have given this camera 5 stars for overall quality and performance. And it is indeed a great camera for the price. However, do not purchase this camera without an extended warranty. After the second year my camera died and wouldn't even turn on, no matter what type of new battery I inserted. And I didn't use it a whole lot, just for family events and vacation. Another problem is that you can forget about finding a repair shop to fix it at a reasonable price. I called a few places, local and national, and they estimated the cost between $100 and $200 to repair it; with that cost I could just buy the same camera brand new. Thus, Fuji doesn't leave you with many options for a camera that has the potential to last a long time. It is a shame, as I was growing use to it. But with such a negative experience with the camera dying only 2 years into the game, coupled with a lack of customer service options, I think I will shop for a different brand.
Pros: great zoom, nifty features
Cons: bulky, poor night shots, slow shutter speed
Great value for the money. It's my first digital camera & I've been very pleased with it. There are an awful lot of setting options for a point & shoot camera, so be prepared to read the instructions to use certain features. zoom is fantastic & picture quality is impressive for only a 4 megapixel camera.
It is bulky - no getting around that. I like feel of having a traditional camera style, but there are occasions when it is just a hassle to carry it with you. Most night pictures have been disappointing. you can play with the options to get a better night picture quality, but it is still less than optimal. Shutter lag is significant; but again, there are some options to adjust for action shots, etc. that can reduce lag time.
All in all, a good bargain for your money. I've had the camera for over a year now & have not run into a single problem. I use rechargable batteries & they seem to last well enough w/o issue.
Pros: none
Cons: Eats batteries 5 meals a day, bulky, zoom mechanism broke, poor value
I bought this thinking I was all set for a while, but all I've had since new was trouble. Every time I pick it up to use the batteries are dead. The president of Fuji should commit hari-kari for this disgraceful product. JUNK, JUNK, JUNK!!!!
Pros: 10X Zoom, easy use, tons of features, GREAT photo quality
Cons: bigger than what I'm use to
I absolutely LOVE this camera. It has so many features and takes excellent photos. The zoom in incredible. I'm not use to such a large camera as I use to have a sony cybershot. This is far better than the sony and the picture quality is also better. The photos I took of my kids at a garden were even better than the photographer I hired the year before. One more photo session there and this thing will pay for itself.
Pros: It is very easy to operate
Cons: I can not find any cons
I will recomend this camera, if I have to buy another digital camera I would not hesitate to buy the same kind. We never had a camera like this and the price is excellent.
Pros: Optical Zoom, Sharp pictures
Cons: Slow shutter speed for night pictures, doesn't adjust very well to bright sun
Overall, this camera takes pretty awesome shot but only outside in the bright sun. If indoors with little bit of light, it will take a darker picture and just look bad. Flash is not that great and a little overpowering. No night mode, no black and white, sepia or negative mode either. Also takes a while for the zoom lens to start up and sometimes turns off randomly. Worst thing overall is the shutter speed and how almost every night shot comes out very blurry (unless you're lucky) At first I thought it was just me but with many many shots taken, I believe its the camera.
Good for the price but wouldn't completely reccommend it.
Pros: Takes the most amazing pictures!
Cons: It doesnt record sound
I got this camera about 2 yrs ago from my honey and I truly love this camera!! I take pictuers all the time.We took it with us to Jamaica and used it for our wedding, ours came out just as good if not better than the pro they had at the resort.I took pics while driving(not me-I was a passenger)to the airport-going quite fast mind you and the pictures came out soo good! Clear, very colorful and just plan beautiful! I cant say enough about this camera. If I could change anything about it--I'd have different len's for it-maybe there are and I dont know about them.
Pros: Picture quality, ease of use
Cons: shutter lag, too slow, batteries.
I really do love this camera and have taken some totally awesome pictures. I do wish the shutter speed was faster...but maybe I am doing something wrong...please help me if you have any suggestions. Also, has anyone purchased the optional lens?..If so, did you like?..
Pros: many many...easy to use with great results
Cons: on occassion can be slower than i hope for
I love this camera. I had just had a new camera given to me that i had lots of trouble with, then a friend told me about this one that they owned..and another friend, so on. I found our local store had one left on sale no less! Bought it and started taking fab photos immediately. So easy to use i admit to not really having looked at the owners manual yet...may learn more when i do. love it!
Pros: Zoom, pic quality
Cons: batteries, night pics
I have owned the camera for over a year and have used it under a lot of conditions overall it a good camera if you don't mind carrying extra batteries and not knowing what your taking a picture at night
Pros: Everything is excellent
Cons: Kind of hard to use at first. Reading the instructions solved everything
As above
Pros: Great Picture Clarity, Fast load time, easilly transferable picture files
Cons: No sound in video mode, Battery Life
This camera is great provided you do two things
- Forget about sound in Video mode and purchase a video recorder for those times
- Purchase rechargeable batteries. The Energizer rechargeable AAs work well with this camera.
I had a Fujifilm 1.3 mega pixel prior ro purchasing this camera and the learning curve was very agreeable. Didn't have to pick up the manual and kept right on moving. Light weight and easy to carry. Also love the Auto feature which making taking pictures in a pinch a sinch!
Pros: Zoom, Load time, Clarity, Simplicity, Durability, Clear Photos, Good Pictures
Cons: No Sound Recording (Not needed.) Origin mislabeled (China and Japan.)
This camera is a great camera because it contains many features which enable an amateur photographer to take great photos. I have taken this camera to many places abroad and it has still performed well. This camera also possesses a grid system that aids with taking photos and allows its user to judge better what photo is being taken. The Fuji S3100 contains a viewfinder that displays a digital image straight from the photographic lens. This is convenient because it displays what is actually being taken. One thing I would like to note and caution about this camera is its origin. The S3100 may be advertised as made in Japan but may really be made in China because of wrong product advertising and labeling. Although this may be the case, a camera of either origin will produce great results that are suitable for any amateur.
Pros: noting
Cons: bad quality, bad price, not easy to use
it was the worst deal that i ever did...
i want to give you advice that dont do it please...
Pros: used to many battery
Cons: non
it light camera ,it take good picture
only used too much battery
