    Pros: Excellent all around

Cons: Have not found anything lacking, yet

I am just a beginner in photography. I do not know much at all about cameras. I find this camera totally adequate in all aspects that I have experienced. The automatic setting is what I use most often and works quite well both indoors and outdoors.... It has many manual settings that I have yet to learn about. It has a self timer which I find useful in including myself in picture. I bought the upgraded memory card for around $35, but would probably not have done so if I had used the one that came with the camera...it is adequate for most purposes. I am glad that I purchased this camera with the high 6.3 megapixel rating, as I make many 8x10 pictures and the detail is amazingly good. Even can make a good poster size print! I highly recommend the E-550 to anyone, even a pro would be satisfied, I believe! Read more Less

big bang for the buck, excellent images

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Dec 21, 2004 | 12 out of 12 found this Fujifilm FinePix E550 review helpful

Pros: super fast start-up, great price for a 6 mpx. camera

    Cons: so-so battery life

Nice design; I like cameras (Fujifilm and Olympus) that use XD cards and AA batteries. The batteries doesn't last as long as the ones that use proprietary rechargeable Li-Ion batteries but AA batteries are cost effective and easy to find. It do...esn't fare any worse than other digital cams that also use AA batteries. The images are superb and the exposure is right on most of the time and the color is excellent. Best priced 6 megapixel camera on market. I own and used many different digital camera and thus far, it is one of the best point and shoot digital cameras around. Beware of those 8 megapixel that uses small sensors because the digital noise is high at higher ISO settings (most all make and models of point and shoot; they must all use the same sensor from one manufacturer). You won't be disappointed with this camera. Highly recommended. Read more Less

    Great camera, great price

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Feb 23, 2005 | 9 out of 9 found this Fujifilm FinePix E550 review helpful

Pros: Compact, quality pictures, excellent value

    Cons: Not an SLR

For all of you looking for a good value, high quality camera look no further. I was in the market for a high resolution digital camera but found most of them upward of 600 dollars, alittle pricier than what i was looking to spend. I took a chance wit...h this camera and haven't been let down in the slightest. I live in Hawaii so the ability to take outstanding photos is never difficult, this camera goes with me everywhere and I even purchased the 512 mb photo card to ensure I never run out of memory. If anyone would be interested in some great pictures feel free to email me and I'll send you some examples. _Mahalo (hawaiian for thank you) Read more Less

    Nice package for the price

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Aug 6, 2005 | 8 out of 8 found this Fujifilm FinePix E550 review helpful

Pros: Lots of features for the price. The cheapest camera with over 6 MP. Small yet has a nice zoom. Supports ISO 800 mode of shooting. Fast picture recording.

Cons: Body made out of plastic components, which give it that kind of cheap feeling to it. XD memory is not as common as SD cards to come by.

The cammera is very nice. As i mentioned above it has the ability to take pictures with ISO 800 which is very rare for cameras in this price range. Also a big plus for the semi-pro shooter is the support for TIFF and RAW images which give you more ed...iting freedoms. Battery has a pretty good life. The xD memory used to be expensive but the prices are coming down. However not all the memory card readers have a slot to read xD cards. Overall I would recommand this camera. Beware when you shop online, because sometimes the places with the lowest price give you only the camera without the box. Read more Less

    I just returned it...

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Jan 17, 2005 | 10 out of 13 found this Fujifilm FinePix E550 review helpful

Pros: Good combo of size/zoom/megapixels for the price

Cons: Focusing in low light... Bad focus=Bad picture

The camera has a lot of features for the money, it's great for normal situations in good lighting. Things change if you want to shoot with dim light, the autofocus can't focus, this is specially bad when zooming in.A (working) manual focus c...ould correct the situation, but the manual focus in this camera, (after you study how to get to it!!!) is absolutely useless. It has no indicator that you reach focus visible or audible, so you are left to guess by looking in the LCD.In summary, if you'll never shoot in indoor situations with dim light, you have a great camera, if you do....look elsewhere.Hope this helps. Great for starters and pocket hobby camera

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Oct 21, 2005 | 5 out of 5 found this Fujifilm FinePix E550 review helpful

Pros: can't be beat at this price point. Fastest start and shoot I have seen.

    Cons: ?

It is small, has a X4 optical zoom, uses easy to find and inexpensive double A batteries. I bought this as my wife wants a point and shoot camera but I wanted a camera that I could manually set. This camera does both very well. I have taken some amaz...ing sports photos as the shutter snaps as soon as you press the button. The auto focus is very clear. The light meter is very accurate. The white balance on auto is pretty good and on manual it is very good. I honestly did a good deal of research and this camera is probably the best within a +/-$50-$75 range. It would be nice if it had a wider apperature and longer opening for the shutter, but overall it is a very strong camera. I even accidentally dropped it and it was fine. Read more Less

    Very pleased

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Mar 9, 2005 | 4 out of 4 found this Fujifilm FinePix E550 review helpful

Pros: Easy to use. Room to delve deeper into digital photography. Easy on batteries (rechargable) so far.

Cons: Plastic cover for input area. Had read about this in review. It needs a way to be attached to camera

I've had my camera about a month now. I got it for taking pictures to place on ebay and also for general use. I took it within two days on a short trip to Florida. I took 3 sets of batteries with me. I never needed to change them. Granted, I didn...'t take a whole lot of pictures but I played with the camera a lot since it was still new to me. I even used batteries to download onto my computer and am still on the first set. I went with the 6.3 megapixel because I think that might be all the camera I will ever need. It should last me a LONG time anyway. It is simple to use and I am not a digital camera genius. It has many extra features which I hope to learn about in time. You can even add an external zoom lense if you choose. I did buy an extra memory chip. I haven't needed to use support yet so I went ahead and rated it excellent as well. The pictures are great. People at work were very impressed with the quality of the prints. I only have about a $100.00 3 in 1 printer to use so I think they came out great. My first digital camera was less than 1 megapixel so I may be prejudiced about the quality. I am very pleased with the camera!!! Read more Less

    Pros: Easy learn, Easy use

    Cons: No Known Complaints

Took camera on a 10 day cruise. Took many shots in all different settings and it never let me down. I compared and shopped for this camera. It came down to A Sony or this Fuji. I'm glad I chose the Fuji. A friend of mine bought the Sony and now w...ishes he had my Fuji. Buy it you'll love it. Read more Less

    Very professional-like camera

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Nov 22, 2005 | 1 out of 1 found this Fujifilm FinePix E550 review helpful

Pros: Very user-friendly, comprehensible menu options, and extremely high-quality pictures and video. Rechargable batteries and charger.

Cons: Can't take too many photos with the 16mb memory card that came with this camera,, so I'll be upgrading to a 256mb card instead.

Recieved this camera as an early Christmas present. Since I know very little about digital cameras (never having used one before,) I thought I'd never figure it out. But it was a different story as soon as I turned it on. Very easy to use. Nothin...g too complex. I was snapping high-quality pictures and then uploading them to my computer in no time at all. Took only about an hour-and-a-half to get used to the features on this camera. Well-worth the price. Buyer will NOT be disappointed. Read more Less
