    Excellent game for PC

By Yahoo! Shopping User  May 3, 2005

Pros: Enormous universe. Great campaign. Great graphics.

Cons: Nothing I can think of.

This is an awesome game. I thought the campaign was especially good. Full of intrigue. Good story line. Many solar systems you can visit. Tons of stations and planets to go to. Many different ships, weapons (both offensive and defensive) to use. I've played the game for over 70 hours over the past six months (I know, I'm a dork) and I'm still getting to solar systems I've never been to. I can't say enough about this game.

    Freelancer a very adictive game

    Pros: Variability, story line, gameplay.

Cons: conversations are canned and get anoying after the 30'th time

Ok after a few missions with the linear story element you have access to multiple jump gates. That in turn allow you to do trade for profits. Higher paying missions. etc.. and the game really doesn't get started until about the 10th linear mission.
also by doing a little exploring you can find new jump holes, stations, planets that are not a part of the story line. and therfore make more profits.
Overall the Canned missions you find in the bars are low on variability but the linears more than make up for it... in one mission in particular my heart was doing about 120. dont wana give much away so I will just say that if you buy this game or are thinking of buying it. Give the game some time.. and you will know what I am talking about.
also I love the jump lanes and the cruise mode. very well done.. and there is nothing like haveing a heavy fighter with 6 guns mounted... and moving the mouse around the screen. anyways I would definitly recomend this game for anyone who enjoys Sci-fi and or First person flyers. and at 19 bucks it is defintly worth it.

Freelancer- the least amount of fun i've ever had

Pros: none, i couldnt even return it for a refund

    Cons: anything you can imagine

i hope the people who made this game get cancer and die. at best the game is only 50% done. despite all the hype about all the different locations you can go and missions you can take, i found there to be only one mission and one location.

you can travel to all sorts of different planets around the galaxy, but they are all the same. all bases consist of a bar, commodities, ship and equipment dealer. equipping your ship to dominate the weak enemies is incredibly easy, so the bar is really the only place of interest. i only say its interesting because its amazing how bad a job the developers did with the conversations. half the time, the dialogue doesn't even make sense. you'll find the ESCAPE button to be your best friend here.

the mission is to fly around shooting ships that move randomly and occasionally fire off a laser blast that wakes you up from your slumber just long enough to shoot it fish-in-a-barrel style. occasionally the mission will have fancy words attached to it like "kill this horrible pilot" or "kill this horrible pilot and tractor in his cargo", but make no mistake, there is only one mission in this game: shoot stuff.

this would be fine if there was any skill required. once i got the hang of the controls, my shields never dipped below 50%, and even if they did manage to knock them out, a simple press of the "f" key restores shields to max. wow, that makes the game really tough.

the so called "role-playing" aspect is a joke. there is no role playing to be found. you just go to the bar, click "job board" and select one of the many tedious missions (all of which are the same). occassionally, a badly voiced girl will tell you to come help her, which serves to further the boring storyline. i couldnt stay interested long enough to see the conclusion, and i really dont care to see it.

    This is a great game!

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Jun 22, 2003 | 1 out of 1 found this FreeLancer review helpful

This is one of the best games I've have played. It has a great AI, great storyline, but it seems sometimes that the game will not play the speech, and it's kind of hard to learn how to set up multiplayer games in the User Guide. Otherwise, the game is great and worth the money
