American singer Freddie Bell and his backup group the Bellboys had a Top Ten U.K. hit with "Giddy-Up-A-Ding-Dong" in 1956, the same year that Elvis Presley saw them performing Willie Mae Thornton's "Hound Dog" and decided to cut it himself. The group appeared in the movie Rock Around the Clock (1956).
