The eBookMan EBM-900 Portable Multimedia Reader and Content Player allows you to download books to read or listen to audio books -thousands of titles are available now. It features a large 240x200 pixel LCDs that display 87% more information than some of today's most popular handhelds. Users can adjust the font size or switch the display to landscape mode for easy reading. The EBM-900 includes a Franklin eBook Reader, an audio book player, an MP3 compatible music player, address book, date book, to-do book, and memo book, all using natural handwriting recognition. eBookMan is designed to allow its features and functions to grow with you. Unlike other handheld devices, upgrading the unit's operating system to accommodate new features and improvements is done entirely through an Internet download. A built in voice recorder and an eBookMan version of the popular Microsoft Reader software are in the works. Microsoft Reader will provide for a wide range of content including digital books and periodicals from the world's most popular publishers.

    my daughter purchased this product in march/01 as a gift for me; had to return first purchased -- damaged; was forced to make subsequent returns trips to increased memory - all total, spent over $300 (because i was stupid enough to go for the mmc, an... xtra $100) for this handheld unit and being unwilling to part with the gift, i put it in the bottom drawer of my filing cabinet. it is only NOW (what, some 8 mos. later) that i can use the unit. they've erased most of the bugs so that my purchase is now valid. franklin now seems to be starting to live up to it's claims, but until i get all that WAS promised, i'll leave this at 2 stars for inconvenience and length of time in getting my daughter's money's worth. final word? i would only purchase this unit if i had the patience of a saint or if you're like me, a squirrel who has a problem letting go of bad nuts.     I bought this because you can read books on it as well as use it as a PDA. When I changed batteries it lost everything in the memory. So everytime I changed the batteries, which don't last very long, I had to re-load everything from my PC. I took it ...back and exchanged it for a new one and it did the same thing.I took the second one back and bought a Sony which cost twice as much but is 10 times as good, plus I found that you can get software and download books for the SONY or any other device that uses PALM operating system. Do not buy the Franklin eBookman. Read more Less
