I'll have a steak sandwich and a steak sandwich. You cannot watch this movie one time and truly appreciate it. (I've seen it start to finish at least 50 times) Chevy is at his best. Every 10 seconds he spits out another memorable one-liner that'll crack you up. Some good old slapstick too. You should see my shoes. Buy this movie and watch it many times.

Here is Chevy Chase on his own. He is not backed up with "Vacation" co-star Beverly D'Angelo, or his most famous of leading ladies, Goldie Hawn. As Fletch, Chevy does everything he can do best - fall down, wisecrack, put on disguises - and of all of his movies, he gives the most easygoing and natural performance in this one without having to try too hard, which he does in the second "Fletch" movie (as well as many other unnecessary vehicles he did in his film career).

Chase was born to play this role! By far his funniest flick. That ol' fetzer valve is stickin' again! Must be the bipass line!

This is simply his funniest film. The character is so cool and entertaining, and he fits the role perfectly. This is the part he was made for. Possibly the funniest film of the eighties!
