This is one of the first albums I ever bought along with Led Zeppelin's "4", Queen's "A Night At The Opera" and Aerosmith's "Toys In The Attic". I played the vinyl white. There is not a single bad song on the album. Nearly everyone song instantly mem...orable and wonderful. No filler.Lindsey's "Monday Morning" and "I'm So Afraid" shows the width of his considerable writing skills. His vocal harmonies with Stevie on "Blue Letter" aand "Crystal" are perfect. Christine's "Over My Head", "Warm Ways", "Sugar Daddy"(..i'm not asking for love..just a little sympathy), and "Say You Love Me" are four of the best songs she's ever written. Simple. Charming. Seductive. Her "World Turning" with Lindsey is another stand out. Mick's drumming is amazing. Stevie's "Landslide" is still powerful. In my eyes it is her signature song. "Rhiannon" is of the defining rock songs of the 70's. "Crystal" is a carry over from the B/N album. An excellent song. I would recommend album this to anyone. It was my favorite FM album for a long time. Only though repeated listening do I vote For "Tusk". Read more Less

Although I haven't yet listened to the early recordings of Fleetwood Mac I have listened to this album and follow-ups listening to Lindsey Buckingham/Stevie Nicks. Lindsey plays his guitar with such intensity it is unmatched ('I'm So Afraid'), excep...t by very few famous guitarists in the 80's (who shall remain nameless). Each track on this album is different in itself. I enjoy listening to Lindsey and Stevie sing on many songs ('Crystal', 'Landslide'), while Christine McVie's gentle/
    heartwarming/
soothing voice rounds out the album ('Warm Ways', 'Say You Love Me'). This is one of the best they have done, besides "Rumours" and should stand out to the audience. Sadly, it is much too bad that Christine will not join the rest of the Mac on the upcoming album (?) in 2002. I'll miss her voice but I hope Christine finds solace...

Pro Reviews: Fleetwood Mac

  • All Music Guide

"Monday Morning," a sunny slice of folkrock with Beach Boys harmonies, opens Fleetwood Mac and makes it clear that the band is no longer a bluesrock outfit. Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks were the catalyst for Fleetwood Mac's successful reemergence as a mainstream pop/rock band. While Buckingham only contributed three songs, he helped the band develop a coherent vision, providing crystalclear backings for Nicks' hippie anthems and Christine McVie's remarkably improved popsoul. McVie dominates the album, contributing some of her finest songs, including the sighing "Over My Head" and the bouncy "Say You Love Me." Nicks' songs function as folky counterpoints to McVie's sweet pop, and she rarely ever wrote songs as memorably affecting as "Rhiannon" or "Landslide." Remarkably, Fleetwood Mac is a blockbuster album that isn't dominated by its hit singles, and its album tracks ("World Turning," "Sugar Daddy," "Crystal") demonstrate a depth of both songwriting and musicality that would blo...ssom fully on Rumours. Biography

Fleetwood Mac

While most bands undergo a number of changes over the course of their career, few groups experienced such radical stylistic changes as Fleetwood Mac. Initially conceived as a hard-edged British blues combo in the late '60s, the band gradually evolved into a polished pop/rock act over the course of a decade. Throughout all of their incarnations, the only consistent membe... Read more
