Who picked Lou Barlow's "Flame" to be a single? It's a great, punishing LP track, complete with its Buzzcocks' "A Different Kind of Tension"-like staccato, sledgehammer, wall-of-kick 'n' snare, but it feels naked and exposed plucked off this way. Fortunately, Russ Pollard's barely produced "Loss of Soul and Shoe" is a low-key non-LP keeper, but his and Barlow's attempt at the Normal-like new wave, the "Flame"-flavored "Television Nitelite," continues Sebadoh's lamentable addiction to inconsequential B-sides.
