Is it a sin to fist the dead?

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Mar 15, 2001 | 1 out of 1 found this Fist of the North Star - Live Action (1996) review helpful

When it comes to fisting this movie is the best. I have seen so much hard core fisting in all my life. The Fist Of The Northern Star tells the story of the immortal warrior Karate Noodles and his quest for the magic ring of Scat which he intends to f...ist like a demon. But his arch enemy Stirfry Cumshot has plans to steal the magic ring and use it as a hat. The martial arts are orchestrated by the legendry John Williams, who also conducted the martial art fight sequences in such movies as ET and JFK, and you can tell when you see the split second timing of some these fisting artists that a lot of thought has been put into which hole gets punched first. Mario Van Peebles is brilliant as the timewarrior Dribbles McGhee and of special mention is Chris Penn, Sean's fat spastic brother, who delivers a knockout performance as an ancient oriental doughnut. So if you like seeing an arm lubricated up to the shoulder disapearing into some poor stunt doubles unsuspecting rectum, then this film has it in spades and shovels, and lets not forget the fists. Amazing. Read more Less

This movie was sweet!!! The CG is amazing and down-town Julie Brown does and amazing job of acting. I honestly haven't seen a better movie since Blues Brothers 2000. I give it two very enthusiastic middle fingers up!!!!!

omigawd!!, this is horrible, a utter and complete disaster. they should be shot. this is a prime example on why some movies need a good budget or shouldn't be converted from comicbook(novels) or anime at all. this is the worse adaptaion of all time.

God Help Me, I Hated This Film

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Aug 24, 2001

Being a big fan of the graphic novel and anime film and series, I was estatic to hear there was a live-action film being produced.NEVER have I been so disappointed in a film!I won't get into what was wrong with it, because everything was badly though...t out and cast. This film makes 'Street Fighter' look good (barely). Do yourself a favor and get the anime version instead. You'll thank me later... Read more Less

Better To Leave Well Enough Alone!

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Dec 13, 2000

I have no idea who created or released this atrocity, but whomever it may be, they should be ashamed of themselves! When this first aired on HBO I almost used the Hoktoshinken on my own TV set and would have spit on the ashes! This movie is HORRIBLE...! Did anyone read the Manga, watch any of the episodes or at least the full length Anime Movie? Gary Daniels has great potential and has worked with some of the best (Jackie Chan). So, for my advice on this movie, leave it in the store on the shelf to collect dust & mold. To Gary Daniels, stick with Hong Kong production companies. There are maybe only 2-5 Worthy directors here in the US who can possibly make comic book characters come to life, and two are brothers (Wachowski Brothers 'The Matrix'). Heed my warning. Good, But not as good as the anime'...

By Yahoo! Shopping User  May 4, 2000

this action pick was good. I had high hopes going into it b/c of Gary Daniels potential to go from "Direct-to-Video" fare to mainstream stuff. However, the plot was almost non-existant and lacking in substance. This movie has some goodfight scenes a...nd makes a strong attempt to capture the magic of the anime', tho'. The cast did a decent job of trying to salvage a script that missed the emotional impact of the source material. It's worth a person's time as a rental or buying used or on-line for cheap prices.
