Pros: too much to say
Cons: none
At the age of 12, I didn't fully grasp the impact and brilliance of this film. Now, at 16, Finding Forrester has become one of my favorite, if not the favorite, movies in my life. Here you have two people from two completely different backgrounds. On one side you have Jamal Wallace, a young ambitious black kid from the Bronx who is known for his basketball skills but secretly has a passion for writing. On the other part you have William Forrester, a Scottish immigrant who was known for writing the best novel of the 20th century only to have fallen away in isolation. The most incredible thing I find about this movie is the dramatic differences that these two characters share and how they abolish a seemingly unbreakable stereotype in that a young black kid and an old white man cannot enjoy a full friendship. As the film went on, I began to find the strengths and weaknesses of both people and I sat back in awe at how one helped the other out. I will not say what the conflicts were but I will tell you that it has one of the best resolutions I have ever seen. I can't put into words the effect this movie has had on my life and I hope this has been or will be an inspiration to you too. I also hope to see Rob Brown, who plays Jamal, in more films. ...
