Pros: Exellent intricate storyline, Great battle and skill systems, The best cutscenes on the PSone
Cons: VERY long game (4 discs), Charactars do not have voice (altough I origionally thought this was a pro)
I fell in love with this game the moment I started playing it. Such a departure for seven and eight before it, nine harkens back to the days of two and three (both on the SNES). Back to a good old swords and magic role playing game. Personally, I prefer it that way.
It's been a while since I've played it, but I recall being highly engrossed in this game. It's length and complexity make for a very hefty time investment, but it is well worth it. The cutscenes are the most breathtaking you will see on this console. Although the lack of speech doesn't hurt the game initially, If you have played X or especially X-2 it may take away from the glory of the movies. None the less, the Final Fantasy RPG experience you would expect is there.
My recommendation would be for anyone with a PSone to have this game in their inventory. It's quite frankly one of the best games ever made for the system. A PS2 owner would clearly be better off with X, but if you are looking for something different and a little more classic this is still a great game.Was this review helpful? Yes - No
