Psychedelic Jazz Man - See all Psychedelic Jazz Man's reviews Why I gave this album 3 stars:
* Yes, they were having trouble at that time.
And Roger took control of the band, this sounds more like a Waters' solo album. So I took one star from the rating.
* Rick was out of the band, and I consider him a very very special part of the group, so i'll take another star from the rating.
Even though I don't listen to this album so often I find the title-track to be touching, and dramatic, which is a possitive thing.
Also Two Suns In The Sunset and Paranoid Eyes are a couple of good songs.
Still I would call it just, a good album. (NOT a must-have). ...

Pros: Roger Waters again proves to be an excelent song writer
Cons: More like a Roger Waters solo project
As Pink Floyd entered the 80's, the band eventually began to fall apart. In 1983, the group managed to record another record, despite of its internal problems. What we got here is "The Final Cut", which is a continues off where "The Wall" left off. "The Wall", was a classic record, and if you expect to see that here, then you'll just end up being dissapointed. In reality, The Final Cut is merely a band effort, in fact it was Roger Water who wrote all these songs.David Gilmour and Nick Mason only contribute as background musicians. The songs here are not as near as catchy as their earlier material. Out of all Pink Floyd recordings, this must be their worst. Sure their are some good pieces in it, like "Not Now John", or "Fletchers Memorial Home", but even those songs are weak compared to any of their earlier songs. Depending on your view, this might be a creative leap for Roger Waters, but it's definately not good for the band itself. If you want some classic Pink Floyd records, concentrate on "Wish You Were Here", or "The Darkside of the Moon", when Pink Floyd actually operated as a group effort. ...
