    What can I say?

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Jul 16, 2001 | 2 out of 2 found this Field of Dreams (1989) review helpful

What can I say? It's an incredible movie. Of course there is the baseball theme to it, but that is not the total picture. Field of Dreams is not only about baseball, but more, it goes much deeper. It's about living out our dreams, seeking, search...ing, soaring, and reaching out for those dreams. Seeking out those dreams and fulfilling them. A quote from the movie is "I guess heaven is a place where dreams come true"(maybe that's not exactly how it goes, but it's something like that). When you watch the movie, keep a good ear on the things they say... it's very deep and searches down to our very heart and core. Read more Less

By far my favorite movie of all time. A terrific father/son movie for those of us that this genre hits close to home and a good movie just to remember how the game used to be played and what it used to mean. Without a doubt, one of the greatest mov...ies ever made. Read more Less

By Yahoo! Shopping User  May 27, 2000

Field of Dreams takes you back to the basics of baseball the pure enjoyment of family time of the simple faith in a game. The DVD special features brings even more magic to this movie. Things that happened during the making of the movie are discusse...d. The real life incidents are as inspirational as the story. Worth a look see. And don't miss for "Love of the Game" It is also out on DVD and is equally enjoyable. Read more Less

    Simply a classic

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Mar 15, 2000

The Cast of “Field of Dreams” are Kevin Costner, Ray Liotta, and Burt Lancaster. It was directed by Phil Alden Robinson. The Movie company that sponsored it was Universal. This movie is based upon a book by W. P. Consella, “Shoeless Joe.” Behind... the amazing title of a classic lies a thick plot and a kind of wonderment that usually only consumes us as children. This wonderment is due to baseball, America’s past time, and everlasting joy. The plot revolves around the character, Ray Kinsella (Kevin Costner) and his family as he hears voices in the corn. No this is not some scary Stephen King novel. Ray makes a journey around to different cities, following this voice. Conflicts arise with the payments on the farm and having difficulties deciphering the meanings behind “the voice.” Other conflicts are purely internal as that of Ray finding himself as more and more like his father. In my opinion, the film was well performed by the actors. Kevin Costner did a wonderfully convincing job of portraying the inner urge to follow the voice. The character of Annie (Amy Madigan) was well played, giving us a realistic sense of how one would act if a loved one started to hear voices. James Earl Jones does a magnificent job being slightly mysterious. Even young Gaby Hoffmann (who played Karin Kinsella) did a magnificent job of reinforcing the magic. The all-knowing Shoeless Joe Jackson (Ray Liotta) did a fine job of keeping us in suspense. “Moonlight” Graham made us all exhale when he performed his little part in the story near the end.The story is told, mainly, from the point of view of Ray Kinsella as we journey along with him. The director (Phil Alden Robinson) knew just when to follow what characters. The music (conducted by James Horner) was alright, I think. The reason I say that is because you don’t consciously realize that there is music playing because it fits so well with the way you are feeling. That is the key. The scenes were well directed and the plot moved right along, not letting you breath. The overall sense of the movie was dramatic and giddy. Dramatic for the internal conflict with Ray Kinsella and his father, and giddy for the effect baseball has on everyone who has ever handled a baseball. You really get a feel for their conflict with the bank and grow to dislike Anni’s brother Mark. I say dislike, because when Baseball is involved, it is impossible to hate anyone. In my opinion, this movie is the best baseball movie ever made. Read more Less

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Sep 30, 1999

This is one of the greatest baseball movies of all time. If you really appreciate the game of baseball you must see this Costner classic. Anyone who has ever played a game of catch with their father can't help but to love this movie.
