This album is easily within my top five favorite albums of all time. I own well over five hundred, of differing music styles, and I can honestly say that besides being musically inventive, the lyrics are worlds above any other band in existence right now.

Give this album more than one or two listens -- it takes some getting used to for the uninitiated (me), but it's worth the time. One of my new all-time favorite bands. Conor Oberst crafts his lyrics with such intuition and genius that it's actually easy to miss how perfect the musical arrangements are. I found the raw, frayed emotion in his voice almost embarrassing at first, but now I can't see how it could have been done any differently. But don't listen to me. Go listen to Bright Eyes.

an outstanding album, some of his most focused works. all the songs are great. he is an outstanding song writer, who lets us see things inside ourselves by showing us himself.
