Pro Reviews: Felicita

  • All Music Guide

The Abba-meets-the Carpenters sound of Al Bano and Romina Power is quite apparent on Felicita, one of the only albums of theirs from this period to make it to America. The music is definitely novel, with kitchy touches like outer space noises and loads of reverb. But all the tricks do is dilute the real problem with this album: it is very, very dated. The music is fun and has its value, but this album screams its own time period, from the production to the music itself. The album is okay, but it really is something that would appeal to long time fans much more than any other group. If the Bano/Power connection is to much to resist, do not start with this album, it is extremely goofy without ever admitting its own goofiness.
