This album is a classic!! I have looked in every music store for this one album and none of them carry it. Of course now I can get it over the internet. If you are a true E-40 fan, than you would understand top of the line wine carlos rossi rhine, ...I drinks it all the time. Actually I don't, but this album started E-40 and The Click's future. B-Legit is from the Click. Maybe I'm too old but this is my Favorite album of E-40, "I'm addicted with no denyin'".. DT canton Read more Less

    Oh Boy!!!

Don't think that E-40 is just some big dude from the Bay that seems jollier than Santa Claus. Think of him as an entrepreneur, a man that will make you listen to what he has to say, even if you aren't a fan of rap. This debut of his firmly establish...es himself as a major player in the rap game. Against the production of Studio Ton, E has plenty to speak on, including recuperating from losses(Drought Season), sidetracking Elroy's(Outsmart The Po-Po's), advancing from a boy to a man(Extra Mannish), and marinating(Carlos Rossi). When you pick this up, get ready to be sprinkled upon by one of the best MC's out there. To those who don't get it, don't even trip, it's a Bay thing, you probably wouldn't even understand it. E-40 began as a money-hungry gangsta rapper, as showcased here on Federal, with its respective Mob and Gangsta sides. Studio Ton handles the production duties, and guests including B-Legit are few and far between. The music itself is stark and definitely underground, a bit dated as well, characteristic of the early-'90s West Coast gangsta rap movement. Forty certainly improved his game in later years, thus making Federal somewhat of a curiousity, where it's most interesting to juxapose the youthful hustler here with the towering don of subsequent albums.

E-40

Throughout the '90s and into the next decade, E-40 led a generation of Cali Bay Area rappers and attracted a large cult following of listeners that spread from the West Coast to the South. Forty's uncanny rhyme delivery set him apart from the mainstream, as he coined a plethora of slang terms and experimented with overdubbed vocals. Moreover, his longevity and sincerity... Read more
