Go Cop It!! No Fear for Me!!

I have no fear as I listen to this album. For people who are narrow-minded and can't experience new types of ranges when it comes to Mya's music, they're missing out...BIG TIME!! This CD shows so many sides of Mya, in fact, there are to many views o...f Mya. That's why this CD isn't a 5 in rating. Mya has great songs both guys and girls can relate to, but there are some that you would just wish were off the album. The sweet innocence can still be seen in this album from Mya's debut LP, but this opens up more. Mya's album "Fear of Flying" has some great, touchy, and catchy songs in it like:2.Case of The Ex4.That's Why I Wanna Fight6.Best of Me12.Fear of Flying14.Can't Believe16.No Tears on My Pillowand the album will satisfy both types of fans, the ones who like the beat, and the ones who like the touchy-feely feeling. This will adequately keep you happy but I do wish this will not be Mya's "Best of Her"! I love the album, and it's my favorite right now, probably until I get Mya's next album. Go cop it!!! 4 stars... Read more Less

I got this cd for 5 dollars. It was worth it. There are some nice songs- such as 2,3,4 and 6, but then there are at least three that are beyond crap. Especially the "Lie detector" (sorry beenie man), and the one with left-eye was written with 5 yr o...ld's in mind. So if i had to buy it new, i would be mad- but i didn't so it's alright. Pro Reviews: Fear of Flying

  • All Music Guide

With her follow-up to her commercially successful debut album, Mya has taken a small step towards shedding her squeaky-clean image and embracing a more mature sound. Many of the best moments on Fear of Flying come with the help of other artists such as Jadakiss of the Lox and Left-Eye from TLC. With producer Swizz Beatz behind the soundboard for her and rapper Jadakiss making his presence felt on "Best of Me," the single is the album's highlight. "Takin' Me Over" featuring Left-Eye shows that when pushed Mya can hold her weight among RB heavyweights. Without the energy of collaborators in the mix, many of her solo tracks wander into predictability. The album relies too heavily on tepid ballads such as the title track and "Man of My Life." Yet songs like "Can't Believe," "For the First Time," and "Lie Detector" show an emotional depth that lacked in her debut. Mya's sophomore effort proves that she is a promising young talent, but still has yet to develop the chops necessary to rank amo...ng the best of RB divas. - Jon Azpiri, All Music Guide Read more Less
