Petra - Farewell (CD)

After 30 years, Petra goes out on top!

Pros: one of the best live albums I've ever heard, it's Petra at their very best

Cons: it is their farewell live show! No more Petra!

There are maybe a handful of Rock bands that are still together, even since the 1970's. The Rolling stones come to mind, as well as KISS and Rez (The Resurrection Band). Petra started in the early 70's and have been rocking until 2005. What ...a great legacy they have left us. This disc is just amazing. They do a superb job mixing new songs with the classics. Instead of doing a double disc, they chose to do two big medleys of classic Greg X Volz songs and classic John Schlitt songs. Greg X Volz actually sings on the record, covering Rose Colored Glasses, More Power to Ya, Annie and more. John Schlitt reaches back and sings songs from This Means War on up to the newer albums. This is an absolute must have for any Petra fan. I have had the pleasure of seeing them twice in concert, back when This Means War came out and then again for the Beyond Belief tour. Petra played a crucial role in my development as a young teenage Christian, so I'm sad to see them retiring, but after 30+ years, you can't blame 'em! Read more Less
