Far Cry has players controlling freelance mariner Jack Carver, who has recently arrived at a tropical island. Jack accepted a large sum of money to transport a reporter named Valerie to the island, but when they arrived, the boat was fired upon and sunk. Valerie is now missing, and Jack finds himself alone and outgunned against a mysterious militia. Shortly after heading into the jungle, Jack finds a militia insider who discloses the group's true intentions. What was expected to be a relaxing day in paradise has now turned into a fight for the human race.

Far Cry runs on developer Crytek Studios' own CryENGINE, which features unpredictable enemies that use group tactics to make Carver's job more difficult. Enemy units include scouts, stalkers, snipers, and grenadiers, each of whom can call for reinforcements to arrive by land, sea, or air. Fortunately for players, Carver will gain access to a variety of weapons and items, such as motionsensing binoculars to help in isolating targets from afar. Fighting, however, isn't always the answer when one is severely outnumbered, and players may choose to rely on stealth tactics to help see them through. ~ Jonathan Sutyak, All Game Guide

    Pros: awesome graphix, realism, fun,etc

    Cons: so real you can die very easily

    this game is awesome...its fun...fun to play...beautiful graphix....storyline is kewl...weapons are awesome....ai is best ive seen, they even try to flank you, and they can swim!!!the only thing i didnt like was how the only way you saveis from save ...points....so if u have to go you better have just passed one...overall this has to be the best shooter ive seen in forever, i think it even pushes halo 1 and halflife 1 off of my best games ever podium, and makes the wait for the sequals easier.....a must have for fans of shooters!     Pros: Real life, AI is smart, Awesome Graphics

    Cons: No blood in water, Need more vecs

    This game is a must have for PC. Has awesome on-line multiplayer if you ever get bored with the single player. All around good, an awesome storyline with stunning graphics that blow you away. The terrain is awesome, awesome to fight in. Worth all... 5 cds! Read more Less
