If you dont understand this movie you should watch it again and again and again until it soaks in. Its so good after that and you can truely appreciate it. I got out of it a jelouse husband that goes into a binge after hearing the news that his wife wanted to sleep with some1 else. Its so good you should def watch it 2 times at the least in ur life time or ur missing out

I'll sure say! I'm not really sure what critics thought of this film, but I sure enjoyed it to the end. The imagery, the colors, the music-- all are very well executed. I'm personally surprised that this kind of movie wasn't made independently. The DVD could use a little more meat on its bones, but the film itself encompasses that. Trash the reviews. Go out and see this movie. A very stylish film made by the late, great Stanley Kubrick.

Para apreciar DE OLHOS BEM FECHADOS basta ter um pouco de sensibilidade e conhecer o estilo de Kubrick. Cineasta complexo, com visão de mundo contundente e germânica, Stanley é sem dúvida um dos maiores nomes da história cinematográfica. Nos brindou com obras de impacto como 2001 e LARANJA MECÂNICA.

I saw it again this weekend and It became my favorite mvie again.I can't get enough of the thrills and mystery of this movie. It should have been credited as Best Picture. The ORGY scene still gets me. This movie is DA BOMB!!!!

You either love or hate this film. I few people that didn't like it (including my mother), but I think it's because they didn't understand it. I consider it a masterpiece. This is the kind of film that students analyse in Film classes.

Kubrick's storytelling grabs you the moment you start watching his movies, his movies may be a little difficult to understand at first but after watching it the second time you finally realize what the story is about. I didn't like Eyes Wide Shut the first time I saw it so I decided to try a second time but after that I fell in love with the movie. With this being Kubrick's last film, makes you want more from him which is not going to happen. Probably the best work he had ever done since The Shining and 2001.

A beautiful encompassing chapter for the film maker of the century. No one gets it, and thats just fine. Kubrick meant to speak to a selected few who were willing to listen. He could give a damn less what the major populace thought. Revolutionary in it's filming, acting, and storytelling.

This film proves that Kubrick is the best director and screenwriter of all time. The best thing about this film is that the two main charachters (Cruise and Kidman) never have sex. Kidman's performance was excellent, one of the best ever. Tom Cruise established himself as one of the best male actors today. The plot seems more complex every time I watch it. It can be seen on so many levels. It's a story about monogamy; it's a dreamworld; it's a realistic commentary on American life. This was probably the most American and realistic film made in the 1990s, that's probably why so many Americans hate it. The music was also outstanding. When the piano seemingly goes off-key, the perfect effect was created. Dr. Strangelove is still my favorite Kubrick film, but this one is a close second.

as a fan of stanley kubrick films i think this is the best i have vever seen i thought i had seen the best untill i saw this movie it isd class and tom cruises performance is outstanding and so is nicole kidman . film of the year

Kubrick at his finest. Haunting imagery, disturbing score, dialog that gives the observer time to consider what the characters are thinking, and a plot that doesn't get in the way of the pure artistry of the film. A movie that runs against today's accepted norms of filmmaking. I only wish I had seen it on the big screen.

Lo mejor que he visto en mis 22 años. Tremenda foto, iluminación impresionante, tema polémico, pero sumamente bien llevado, Kidman en su mejor papel y Cruise... simplemente en medio de los papeles que lo hacen el mejor: los internos.
Nada como hablar de la conjunción de amor, fidelidad, sexo, costumbre y fantasías...
Roque, Willy, Erika (besos) y yo pensamos igual.

Kubrick's last epic film. Creepy music. A doctor Bill Hartford and his wife Alice have a fight after both of them are stoned. Alice has had many affairs. Bill wants to get revenge so tries to get laid many times. He never does. He finds an old friend named Nick who tells him about this coustome party. He goes and sees an orgy. Then the people there say he will die. Then this prostitute saves him. He goes home and the next day Nick is gone. Bill then gets scared and talks to his friend Victor. Victor tells him it was a joke. He goes home and finds his wife has done another man. But he finds the mask he wore on the bed and he starts to cry. The next day he takes his Alice and his daughter Christmas shopping. Alice doesnt know whats going to happen with the marrige. Then she tells him she doesnt know if it is a dream or not. Then she says one word and the movie is over "

Kidman's soliloquy was great in this movie!! To me, it was the best part of the whole film. Cruise was OK. Cinematography was beautiful. The plot was lacking, I thought. It made me ask myself one or two questions, but in all, it was worth seeing at least once.

This movie is a masterpiece, one of Kubrick's finest acievements. The problem is that people nowadays want 90 minute fluff - they don't want to think. Kubrick makes movies that make people, Heaven forbid, THINK. "EWS" left me speechless. The point of this movie was to leave you asking questions. If you think about it, not one question was answered in the movie. In the end, we don't know what happened. And I think that is just so damn cool. "EWS" should have been a major Oscar winner. Perhaps if DiCaprio was the leading man, it would have sold more tickets & received best picture & director..... but if Leo was the star, the movie would have sucked (see '97 best picture, "Titanic"). "EWS" was one of the best pictures of the year, & is one of my all-time favorites. It is a perfect finale to an incredible filmmaker's life & career.

This is below average for a Kubrick movie, but is definitely worth a viewing for the amazing attention to detail to the sets, costumes, camera work, dialogue, etc. However, there was a lack of cohesion to the tone and plot (the movie got downright boring at times, which is especially bad considering the shock value tactics implored throughout)
and a lack of dramatic range and depth to Cruise's acting (Kidman was very good) that left me a little diappointed.Was this review helpful? Yes - No
