Pro Reviews: Everybody's Grandpa [Box]

  • All Music Guide

Five CDs, covering the years 1960 through 1973, more than 120 songs, including all of the hits, A-sides, B-sides, album tracks, and rarities from Grandpa Jones's stay on Monument Records. The sound is excellent, the selection of tracks includes remakes of Jones' classics as well as his new material from the biggest boom years of his career, and the booklet and annotation are the finest ever done on him. The pity is that his King, RCA, and Decca sides haven't been gathered together in the same manner -- but that's for another box.
