The comedian stars as an altered version of himself, Ray Barone, a Long Island sportswriter who has the wife of his dreams, Debra (Patricia Heaton). Unfortunately, their life of bliss is constantly being interrupted by Ray's bickering parents, Frank (Peter Boyle) and Marie (Doris Roberts), as well as his dopey brother Robert (Brad Garrett), who all live close by. This 5-volume box set includes every episode from the series' debut season, which explores issues of family dynamics with a constant injection of hilarity.

    Great start to Raymond DVD series

    Pros: great comedy, clear picture, easily navigated menus

    Cons: wish there were more features such as deleted scenes, more commentaries

    This is overall one of those classic sitcoms that are rare to come nowadays such as The Cosby Show, Roseanne, etc. It doesn't happen often where you have a series that features such a great ensemble cast that seem to be having as much fun acting ...out the series as we an audience enjoy watching them. The DVDs come on 5 discs that basically contain 5 episodes each (except for disc 5). I thoroughly enjoyed the audio commentaries on episodes 1 & 22, but wish there had been more. But other than, that it's a great way to start out the ELR series on DVD. Looking forward to buying Season 2 in the coming weeks! Read more Less
