was Clyde really beaten to death?
I can't believe Clint watched the animal being misstreated.

This movie is even more enjoyable to watch when you know that Clint's co star Clyde the orangatang was eventualy beaten to death by his trainer, after suffering years of abuse, including during the making of this film and its sequal. There is nothing funnier to me than seeing animals tortured for the sake of making comedies, and im sure Clint must have done his best to make sure Clyde was happy, probably gave him a banana or something in between beatings. Yes its a great old movie this one, one you just want to watch again and again. You wonder sometimes if we really did come from apes dont you?
