    Pros: it's a space movie

Cons: it's a hopeless indulgence in lurid evil

It's also predictable --especially for a nihilist. An example of "gratuitous ________________" (fill in the blank).

    Great movie..but

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Jun 19, 2002

It is essentially a great movie with a great plot. But it could have used more development. Ending was too abrupt . Should have been expanded.Nonetheless, I recommend watching it: good adrenalin rush.

    Event Horizion

Without question the darkest feeling I've had watching a movie in a long time. The feeling of dread grows by the minute. Watching Sam Neil's character descend into the powerfull madness that is the Event Horizion was facinating.
A must see for the modern horror and Sci-fi junkie.

Uhhh...Exactly What Does Hell Look Like

That's what I was wondering when I watched Event Horizon on the big screen. It seemed promising, but the ending was flat. Laurence Fishburne really carried out this movie.

Funny thing is that I keep thinking there was once an old movie with the same plot, but in sea and not in space.

A great movie that needs a little help.

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Oct 26, 2000

This is an excelent movie to watch while in the movie theaters or in a movie theater setting, but if you are watching at home with your friends and family in front of a regular television set and don't have surround sound blasting in your ears you don't get the full effect of the movie. Everything in this movie is mind blowing, Lawrence Fishburne and Sam Niell give powerful preformances, the plot and setting is fresh and original, and the music really sets the mood of the scenes. If in the proper setting this movie will give you nightmares and make you think of things that you have never thought of before. Just watch it if you have the right set up for your house.

Ah well, it was actually a good movie...

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Oct 21, 2000

    Alright, here is the thing.
Event Horizon is a great movie. Technically, he is perfect. Very, very well made.
It is a movie to the ones who loves to listen histories about earth misteries, like that history about two french guys who tried to reach the earth center, and there was a moment when they heard screams and whispers of pain and horror, right where they couldn't dig.
It is a very scary movie also. That naked woman without eyes send shivers through my spine everytime I see her.
The main problem with the movie is that the conclusion sucks. Oh common....that movie was sooooo good. Why do we have to watch a hand entering in someone's mouth and taking its stomach and heart? Or watch someone without eyes shout "Liberarte-me!"? The latin idea was preety smart, but oh man....why?
Why do we have to watch so much gore after an extravagant movie? People coming back.....I expected much more.
The movie IS good. Don't listen to the ones who didn't like it. But also don't listen to the ones who thinks it's perfect. It is a good movie - an extravagant movie - with a ridiculous ending.

    An Americanized and shorter "Solaris"

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Jan 19, 2000 | 0 out of 1 found this Event Horizon (1997) review helpful

    Breathtakingly stunning in the visual
department and with a great cast. However, more depth was needed. I felt
like watching an edited version. It needed a little bit more of a back-story
(the original crew for instance) and
a little more meat on the plot. But
even with these shortcomings, I somehow feel mysteriously attracted to this movie due to it's dark, gothic, and super-natural setting. It's worth a peek
but it's not for the meek.

Takes science fiction in to the most secret and most hidden human fears. What will science lead to? Aren't we playing with something bigger than expected? Are we able to calculate all the effects of our actions?

Second scarriest movie next to The Exorcist. You'll either love or hate this one, and I'm definitely one of the former.

A great science fiction movie. Managed to have an interesting plot and it really is quite frightening. I definitely recommend it.

Lots of possibilities but went nowhere

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Aug 25, 1999

    Started off great: interesting premise,
    decent stars (Neill and Fishburne),
    interesting visuals that managed
to haunt my dreams. But it never
managed to go anywhere. Ends up
    just being another jump-out-and-scare-
    you flick. No brain required.
