This is the story of a guy, Joel (Carrey), who discovers that his long-time girlfriend, Clementine (Winslet), has undergone a psychiatrist's (Wilkinson) experimental procedure in which all of her memory of Joel is removed, after the couple has tried for years to get their relationship working fluidly. Frustrated by the idea of still being in love with a woman who doesn't remember their time together, Joel agrees to undergo the procedure as well, to erase his memories of Clementine. The film, which takes place mostly within Joel's mind, follows his memories of Clementine backwards in time as each recent memory is replaced, and the procedure then goes on to the previous one, which is likewise seen, and then erased. Once the process starts, however, Joel realizes he doesn't really want to forget Clementine, so he starts smuggling her away into parts of his memory where she doesn't belong... which alters other things about his memories as well.

    Pros: probably one of the most unique and original storylines i've ever seen or heard of

    Cons: may be a little too much information all at once

    This movie was absolutley mind blowing. i would recommend this movie for everyone to watch. its about a man who has a girlfriend and she is ignoring him after they have gotten into a fight. only the man soon comes to realise that she has had him eras...ed from her memory and he is just another stranger to her. After he decides to undergo the same procedure, the camera is rolling as we get to see his mind swept clean of her, only half way through the process, he decides he would like to keep his memories and attempts to build a resistance within his own mind. I know it sounds like a big pill to swallow but give it a chance, when the movie is over you'll be asking yourself all kinds of questions. Read more Less

    Pros: Jim Carrey

    Cons: The movie

    I love Jim and every movie he has done except this one. Not that he shouldn't try to stretch, but this movie has zero going for it. I kept waiting for it to grow on me after all the glowing reviews, but it never made it. The story was disjointed ...and no point was made. The point of the movie was lost and no amount of story could fix it. Read more Less
