    More essential than ever

    Pros: 1) Great listening from beginning to end, 2) Double CD, 3) Great mixing of beautifully old school & thematic tracks

    Cons: 1) just one con, and this is picky...wish I could also listen to each track non-mixed, in it's original length...some tracks on this CD are a bit harder to find than others

    Long time David Holmes Fan! For me, his "Essential Mix 98/01" is what won me over. Personal Rating: 4 & 1/2 to 5 Stars, out of 5. What I will say is that each track was crucial in making this mix an epic / thematic one. Phychedilc, Soul, ...and Foreign Movie Scores are just a few of the elements that run fluid throughout, and each track is FLAWLESSLY MIXED into the other. Won't get into particlars about what who each track is by, or how good each track is - that just a matter of musical taste. The track listing here should tell just what ride David Holmes was planning, and it's a beautiful one. I got this 2x CD back in 1999 and I still find myself playing it over and again. Since then he has made many awesome production albums, movie scores and radio DJ mixes. If you're a David Holmes fan and don't have this CD yet, I promise you will dig at least 90% of "David Holmes 98/01". If you're a fan, it's worth getting. Read more Less
