    A languid, evening listening to bluesy/jazz

    Pros: Love the soulfulness of her voice

    Cons: There is none that I can think of

    Got into this music since I first seen the movie "Lady sings the blues" with Diana Ross playing Billie Holiday when I was seven or eight years old? Ever since then, I have listened to this type of music, big bands, any type of music.. I lov...e the variety of music. Now, Etta James.. *sigh* I love the song "A Sunday Kind of Love".. THAT is a great song along with "At Last". However, I think these two are probably one of her popular songs. Nevertheless, if you are looking to purchasing a blues/jazz singer-she is one of my recommendations especially if you are planning on making it a quiet night at home without the kids, dim the lights, curl up on the divan, a good book or just doing nothing as you let the music swirl around you and place you in a relaxing mood.     Forty-four tracks summarizing the long and brilliant Chess tenure of Miss Peaches, opening with her 1960 smash "All I Could Do Was Cry," and encompassing her torchy, fully orchestrated ballads "At Last, " "My Dearest Darling, " and "Trust in Me, " and continuing on through her 1962 gospel rocker "Something's Got a Hold on Me, " the Chicago soul standouts "I Prefer You" and "842-3089, " and her 1967 Muscle Shoals-cut smash "Tell Mama." A few of the '70s sides that conclude the two-disc set seem makeweight when compared to what preceded them, but most of the essentials are aboard.
