girl power! this movie shows that women- no matter what status- can overcome something and fight for what they want. Its a bit long for a movie but totally worth it!

This is without a doubt the best film I had ever seen. It is so realistic and so interesting. It isn't tedious and keeps developing all the time. It is truly amazing. I have this DVD and I watch it all the time, it is simply perfect. I would recommend this to everybody. Buy this film, you'll love it!

This was an excellent movie. I believe it has inspired many peoples lives, it sure has inspired mine. To know that this really happened, that this woman had three kids and no money and how she built herself up and was able to support her three children on her own is wonderful.

i think erin brockovich is a great true story to ever become a movie. i liked it, alot. julia roberts did an excellent job as erin brockovich. this is a great movie to watch or rent on video or dvd. either way, it's your opinion to iether watch it or not. i choose to watch it.

Steven Soderbergh has been an acclaimed director for his indie films like sex, lies and videotape, The Limey and Out of Sight but he decided to go mainstream in 2000, most indie directors lose their artistic quality when they go mainstream but Soderbergh hasn't lost his touch as he proves with his mainstream but compelling drama Erin Brockovich. Soderbergh had a megastar like Julia Roberts under his direction, now, Roberts has never been thought of a great dramatic actress but thanks to Soderbergh's direction she gave her best and most acclaimed performance in her entire career as the sassy, sexy, determined and wilfull heroine that the film is named on. The fusion of Soderbergh, Roberts and Susannah Grant's witty script accomplished one of those rare Hollywood hybrids: a film with enough mass appeal for the mainstream audiences but also a compelling intelligent drama as is Erin Brockovich, an irresistible David vs. Golliath legal drama about an intelligent, single mother without superior education hired by attorney Ed Masry (Albert Finney in a great performance) in his lawfirm and she accidentally discovers that a water company has poisoned one of her clients but it turns out that a whole community has been poisoned and this "little guys vs. Big Company" saga starts. Roberts gives a GREAT performance, like I said earlier, the best in her career and the performance the swept all award shows including that much wanted Oscar for Best Actress that Mrs. Roberts recieved and it's totally deserving, her performance is passionate, has heart, determination, it's wonderfully entertaining and charismatic, and very sexy as well, Roberts gets to say great lines from Susannah Grant's sharp and witty script like "eat me, Krispy Cream" or "They're called boobs, Ed" in such a brassy way that it seems that the role of Erin Brockovich was taylor-made for Roberts and she wonderfully portrays Brockovich's high temper as well. Thanks to Soderbergh's direction the film shows both sides of Erin's life and shows her own struggles between her work and personal life, as she gets more and more into the case, she feels active and that is doing something that she's always wanted to do but on the other side her kids and her boyfriend (very well performed by Aaron Eckhart) are drifting away from her and she's losing many of the key moments in their kids' lives. Despite being predictable (we all know the good guys will win over the bad guys) what it's great to see is Roberts' crusade and how she gets the bad guys. Erin Brockovich is a triumph in all areas (directing, acting, story and script) and it was a huge success at the box office, but not only because of its star, it was a story that was needed to be told to the people and Soderbergh wonderfully succeeded in telling this real life story. Erin Brockovich became one of the highest grossing films of 2000 and one of the most critically acclaimed ones, which recieved 5 Academy Award Nominations (Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actress (Roberts), Best Supporting Actor (Finney) and Best Original Screenplay) and was the film that revived Roberts' career and established her as a true actress by winning an Oscar. All in all, Erin Brockovich is greatly directed and acted, compelling and very entertaining drama but with lots of brains to please both mainstream movie goers and film buffs and that shows that good-feel films can actually be really good without being manipulative tearjerkers, Erin Brockovich is definetely one of the best films of 2000.

well written, makes sense, has a plot, and good screen play, unlike Charlie's Angels which is a pile of SH*T, get's you involved with the characters, and is very real life type of movie( i.e. people can relate).

Erin Brockovich really shows off Julia Roberts acting ability. She carries this movie. With great supporting work by Albert Finney. The direction of this movie is fast paced and edge of the seat. You dont even have to like Julia Roberts to enjoy this movie. Great script!

Well by reading some of the other reviews that have been left by yahoo users I see that the this movie didnt appeal to everyone. How I dont know. The story was wonderful....the acting was top notch...and the overall effect it had on me and the people I was with was we didnt want it to end.The two main actors Julia Roberts and Albert Finney gave perfomances that swept you up and made you care for the characters.The script was masterfully done. with its combination of hard driving drama and cynical humor it couldnt miss. So when you stand in fron t of this movie at the video store the reviews you have read here will show themselves to your memory and at that point youlll have to make a decision go with masses or go with your heart.....tough choice. If you go with yourt heart you wont be disappointed.

The tragic story should have been a documentary for PBS, instead Hollywood Money Mongers have sensationalized the story to make themselves richer. The winners in the end are the lawyers. Who can ever put a price on worth of a life?

This was an excellent movie. Julia Roberts gave one of her best performances since Pretty Woman (another on of my favorites). It was funny, dramatic and inspirational. I own this movie and I have at least watched it about 15 times and i never get sick of it. I hope that she gets the Oscar nomination because she deserves it.
