You don't even get what you paid for

Pros: Suppose to print on cds.

Cons: Low quality with no support.

I bought this on closeout for $110 and it seemed like a bargain at the time. After trying to use it it was a nightmare. It prints with several rainbow streaks running the full length of the page. Its not a dirty print head issue because that causes l...ine across the page. The CD printing feature prints the Cd's in a smeared / stretched appearance and the CD moves on the platter while being printed on. The paper feeder jams 1 out of 10 sheets and the bottom feeder won't pick up glossy photo paper. It was a closeout with no returns so I'm just screwed. Read more Less

    MEGA PROBLEMS with RX680

By neilb  Feb 19, 2008 | 2 out of 5 found this Epson Stylus Photo RX680 review helpful

Pros: Great Quality if it works

    Cons: Never works

I am on Printer number two, soon to be getting my third RX680 from Epson. The unit is extremely buggy and does not work out of the box. I have owned pretty much nothing but HP printers in the past ten years and have never had as much trouble as I hav...e had with Epson. The problems are as follows: Smearing of photos and text, regardless of paper used. Print heads that won't align. printer mysteriously skips about two lines towards the end of the print. When printing 4X6 photos, the printer prints the photo, but keeps on printing for about 30 seconds after the photo is done. At this point it either knocks the photo around; smearing the bottom 1/4 of the photo, or just prints aimlessly and then ejects the photo. The photo then has several horizontal lines from the rollers. It has taken about two days for photos printed on Kodak Ultra Premium Photo paper to dry. The first printer would constantly eat and tear plain paper, or grab ALL of the sheets and try to feed it through at once. The printer requires a very stable table for it to work, as although it is huge, it is not well balanced and will "see saw" anything that is not heavy and stable. Tech support has been helpful in actually sending out replacements, but has been otherwise useless as they are not native english speakers. I think that there is a problem with the Vista drivers that Epson has provided, as the printer(s) seems to work better with XP on my laptop, but the printers still have way too many errors that have nothing to do with the OS. If you buy this printer, buy it locally in case you have to exchange it. Hopefully printer number three will work. Read more Less
