    Scam

    By Ki  Jan 28, 2009

    Pros: nice quilty pictures

Cons: rip you off if your not using to print all your photoes at once

ok every time you go to print after the printer has been sitting idle for a while it will clean it self and use up a portion of the ink, so much that i only printed up 10 photos (normal size) and a ton of work doc. (only black ink) that after a period of time i was out of color ink (i did have to replace the black cartage once and was still full by the time the color ones when empty). Here's where i got very upset, and even called tec support. If ANY of the cartages are empty it will not print. I had a work paper i needed done that day and went to print it like normal when i couldnt because i was out of BLUE ink (my paper was a text only doc). So, it ueses up ink even when you dont and makes you replace it to do ANYTHING.
~~I WILL NEVER BY EPSON AGIAN~~

    Horrible!

By Unsatisfied Customer  Nov 2, 2008

    Pros: None

    Cons: Wastes so much ink!!!

Be prepared to go through a lot of ink. I feel better after reading some of these reviews because I know I am not alone out there. For the last year, I could not figure out what was wrong with this printer. Until I read some of these reviews mentioning the constant head cleaning, I didn't know what the heck was going on with the printer everytime I started it up. Because of this headcleaning, it takes several minutes before the printer is even ready to start printing a page. It wastes an incrediable amount of ink and the ink is very costly. It is not practicle for everyday use(word documents, internet pages etc...), I would say it is mainly a photo ONLY printer. It is by far the worst printer I have ever purchased. After one year of use, I am throwing this printer in the garbage and buying a new one!

    Worst printer ever

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Sep 18, 2008

    Pros: None

Cons: Plan to take 10 minutes for head cleaning about 50% of the time you try to use it, ink clogs easily and often, and empty quickly.

Worst printer I have ever seen. An attempt to use it generally necessitates a head cleaning operation before it can print copy that is readable. That means you need to plan to spend about ten minutes working with the machine before you can actually print a single piece of paper. The ink cartridges empty quickly and clog frequently. Printing is not possible if one color cartridge is out, even if that color isn't needed. There is nothing redeemable about this machine. I am literally throwing it out and purchasing something else.

Epson R260 wastes a lot of ink with head cleaning!

    By bill  Jun 14, 2008

    Pros: pretty nice print quality

Cons: wastes a ton of ink with automatic head cleaning cycle !

If you buy the Epson R260 (or any other Epson printer) you better live close to the Ink Store and have a lot of money in your wallet. The ink costs about $80 for all 6 cartridges. I print only an average of 5 pages a day (each page consists of two 3 x 5 color photos). The $80 cartridges lasted only 1 month. Where you use (waste) most of the ink is in the automatic head cleaning cycle that the Epson R260 does. It seams like it does the head cleaning trick about every 3 or 4 days (about 20 pages). I would say that this cleaning wastes about 10% of your ink every time it cleans the heads. So for every $80 ink cartridge set I would estimate that 50% is wasted in the automatic head cleaning cycle. I looked to see if there was any way to turn off the auto head cleaning trick but after hours of trying came up with nothing. In conclusion, when my Epson R260 uses up the current ink cartridges (any minute now) it is going in the Trash !

Price of ink outweighs cost of printer

    By MichelleM  Apr 19, 2008

    Pros: Prints good pictures

Cons: Ink runs out constantly-high ink cost-monthly expense

I am very disappointed with this product. The amount I have spent in ink is outrageous. Epson has made a money maker in this product because if one color runs low the whole printer will stop and you have to purchase that cartridge before it will resume. The cost of the ink cartridges are very high. For example, say you just want to print in black but ran out of the Cyan color your out of luck printing until you purchase another Cyan. Also, Epson has put in chips in the tiny ink cartridges that shuts down the printer when the ink is low but not completely out. I could have bought a very expensive printer in what I have spent in this money machine.
