    Simply Great

Pros: Prints stunning sharp detail without a computer

Cons: Need to mark paper so not on wrong side when printing

Purchased a Kodak DX6490. While buying my camera I saw the epson display on this printer. It made me think of my wife wishing she had pictures to take to work and show the girls. I also have had issues emailing pictures because of size limits from IS...P's. I hooked up this printer and inserted the flash ram card and in a heartbeat it printed an index. I picked the pictures I wanted and when printed I was just stunned as to how great the pictures looked. The paper and ink cost me $28 bucks and now I can make 100 prints at will. This is a great addition to my computer stuff.PS It's cheaper then the Kodak to use which I might have bought except the paper was $28 for only 25 prints. Read more Less

Great Prints at a affordable price

By Michael Z  Jul 27, 2004 | 14 out of 14 found this Epson PictureMate review helpful

Pros: Excellent print quality, price is reasonable

Cons: No preview of pictures available

I take a lot of digital pictures and have in the past been relucant to print them all out because of issues printing using a normal inkjet photo printer. I got the PictureMate and was pleased at how easy it was to setup and use. The lack of a previe...w feature can be gotten around by printing proof sheets, but it should be put into future versions of this printer. The value pack of cartridge and prints is a good idea. I plan on purchsing the carrying case accessory when it is available, so I can print pictures on the fly. the PictureMate's small size should make it easy to take on vacation/travel.Speed is good considering the beautiful quality prints produced. I try to smear the prints right after printing and they reacted just as good as lab-produced prints! No image damage. Only 4x6 prints are supported - I hope that larger print sizes will be available in the future.Overall, another great product from Epson! Read more Less

    Epson PictureMate

The PictureMate delivers great print quality and is fun to operate, but it prints onto only one size of paper and can't run on batteries. The $199 PictureMate's design suggests portability and recreation: It has a handle and looks like a small silver-and-black boombox. The PictureMate doesn't run on batteries, though you can buy an optional car adapter for $50. It prints only on 4-by-6-inch paper, but you can have it make two wallet-size prints on one sheet.
