  • All Music Guide

This live album (Haggard's fourth, dates and personnel not indicated) showed up during his stay at Epic Records, allowing the new label to market its own versions of some of his established hits. The '60s material includes Liz Anderson's "(My Friends Are Gonna Be) Strangers" and Haggard's own "Workin' Man Blues," while the '70s are represented by "Trouble in Mind" and "Things Aren't Funny Anymore," and Haggard also gives a fine, loose rendition of "Blue Yodel 2." All of it is well played, though there isn't nearly as much energy here as there is on Capitol's I Love Dixie Blues. A good mid-priced mid-career document.
