Scarey end of the millennium flick, with Arnold's character suffering greatly
and Gabriel Byrne giving his best performance yet. Also a sad performance
by once-great actor Rod Steiger.
Arnold's best since Total Recall. Good movie that pits Arnold against man's true worst enemy, Satan. Its a heartstopping battle of wits and action as Arnold races the clock to stop the "End of Days"
Best Arnold movie since T2
This is one of Arnold Schwarzeneggers great films. Forget Spellbinder. That Movie sucked. Unlike that film this one had a better storyline and plot. The Ending should of been better. Its a great film. Buy this on DVD only if the Fullscreen version is availble. Otherwise, stick with the VHS version.
In bad movies I expect at least one thing to be good about the movie. End of Days although did not live up to this expectation. Horrible in every way shape and form.I'd get more of a kick from watching grass grow than seeing Arnold's horrid acting
it was pretty cool, the effects were alright although i didn't know satan would be so horny. the acting was great but we all know Arney could do better. i think you'd get board of it after seeing it too many times though.
I thought that this was one of Arnolds worst movies.I still own it like I do every other Arnold flic. It lacked the close up of his muscles and their was more talking then fighting
This was a stupid, no relistic, dorky ass wipen movie. I mean, it had good direction but the end? so gay. the devil was beaten way to easily!
it's not something the fans are used to but it's a great change from what we are used to...great effects and action as always
Total lack of respect for anybody and any beliefs. Gratuitous violence and an insane plot. A work of the devil.
End of Days was a good film, but i have to agree with other reviewers, the film lacks any real ' backbone' and yes, the Devil himself was infact beaten too easily! despite this it still offers good action scenes, and special effects. The acting is great! Gabriel Byrne and Arnie suit their parts well.
Great idea, great acting, great setting, everything great, except the ending.I surely don't know how the devil was beaten so easily after all the buildup that the movie brought.Anyways I liked it even though it lacked a certain I don't know what.Arnold had a great return and Robin was superb.Watch this for a great new years scare, but not too closely.
This is another one of those films that you borrow from a friend. It really showed a lot of promise, but fell prey to the 'Erm, boss, we haven't got much film left in the can, we better wrap this up' syndrome. I was so engrossed, expecting another 45 minutes of excellent action, only to be let down by such a shallow ending with no drama and no heart. Excellent direction, plot etc, but way to short and the ending sucked so much, I almost started using my DVD as a coaster until I thought 'Hey, I'll take it back and say I bought it for a friend and they've already got it, can I have a refund?'
Apart from the large amount of violence that you
would expect from a movie such as this, the movie fails
to deliver. The movie is anti-Catholic so if you
happen to be Catholic don't watch it. There are several
good effects but the plot goes nowhere.
Not one
of Arnie's best movies.
Its one of the best movies of Arnold.
It you like Arnold, then you'll like this. So, I liked it. But it's actually a poorly done movie. I think this is a movie for people who enjoy Peter Hyams films, Schwarzenegger, Gabriel Byrne or "Omen" type movies. You have to know going in that you're not going to be watching an Oscar winner. If you understand that, then you might like it.
If you had listened to the critics, you would have missed a very good Arnold movie. I am not going to write a long disertation on this movie, but I have a feeling I know why the critics panned this one. I find critics don't like movies that put a positive spin on religion...especially Catholics. Not to ruins the ending or anything, but lets just say Arnold finds his faith. Finding faith is not politically correct in this day of age. The movie has great special effects. If I had a gripe, it was the portrayal of the "Devil" guy was too much like in Devil's Advocate. But after hearing all the negative reviews, I was ready for another "Last Action Hero" My friends and I were pleasantly surprised. And if your an Arnold fan, you will be too. Also, I wouldn't let kids under 18 watch this movie, because of the violence and gratuitous sex scenes. I actually was surprised some of those scenes were in the movie.
End of Days was one of the best action movies of the year. Unlike some of Arnolds other works this action movie actually builds up a real storie line. Jericho Cane(Arnold) is put up to the ultimate test of faith. He goes head to hot head aganist Satan himself(Gabreil Byrnes). The conclusion leaves Jericho in a fight to save the world and to stop Satan from creating the Anti-Christ
Before renting the DVD version of this movie, 4
people told me it WAS NOT GOOD. I rented it anyway and
was pleased with the movie.....But what do people
know anyway????? I was told Blair Witch Project was "
The best horror ever" ??? I don't think so...
Just
watch the movie, it's pretty good.
sub-quality in comparison to what Arnold have
been in.
Best to skip the movie. I ended up
laughing at the scary scene along with the rest of the
theatre audience. Something along the line of Mummy but
that was funnier.
Been looking for this one on DVD
incorporating
BOTH the widescreen
and fullscreen transfers but
havn't
been able to locate it.
Owning an ordinary
27-inch set,
I value my eyesight and will
neither
rent nor buy DVDs that do not include
the
fullscreen version of films.
Those DVDs that don't
incorporate
both versions must automatically
be categorized
relegated to the
"turkey" bin, where they
belong,
regardless of the quality of the
film. One star is all
the DVD gets
under these circumstances ...
I am very interesting in movies
This movie is awesome. Okay so the plot is
unbelievable, but is the action good? Yes.
Is the acting
good?
Yes.
Is the overall movie good?
Yes. Yes. Yes.
The
best performance in End of Days is most definitely
Gabriel's Byrne's. He is cocky, snenile, and plays the
devil far better than Al Pacino in Devil's Advocate.
End of Days is action packed, and if your and Arnold
fan, you're in for a treat, if not, well give it a try
anyway. You may be pleasantly surprised.
