    Pros: EXCELLENT

    Cons: none whatsoever

Killswitch Engage have returned, with a perfect follow-up to their acclaimed "Alive or Just Breathing". Very few bands can accomplish great followups. Their new vocalist is much better than Jesse, especially in terms of his smoother melodic... voice. Not to mention their thrash remains the same and just as brutal. Definitely one to get! This is what real metal is suppossed to sound like!!! Read more Less

Standard by which other CDs should be judged.

Pros: Great songs, performances & production

    Cons: None!

Nothing is more satisfying than a band that seems to get better with each release, especially when faced with the challenge of replacing their lead singer. KsE has shown that they could not only survive that change, but that they could improve on the ...very good "Alive of Just Breathing" with the simply stellar "The End of Heartache". Howard Jones, the replacement vocalist, not only has the requisite blood-curdling scream nailed, but he has a strong Singing voice that caps an excellent batch of songs. The production by guitarist Adam is clean, thick, and punchy, allowing the listener to appreciate the technicality of the songs and the great musicianship. "A Bid Farewell" is a perfect opener, showing all sides of KsE. It shows off the range Howard's voice, the tightness of the band and its adeptness at changing pace and dynamics. "Rose of Sharyn", has great lyrics about lost love set against a brutal backdrop, showing that not all love songs have to be lame. While these songs standout for these properties, this CD really is all killer, no filler. Not too long, not too short, just solid, confident and a must have. If you have heard "Alive of Just Breathing" and thought it was nothing extra, don't let that prevent from giving this CD a fair listen - this is a new voice and new era for this band, and this release is definitely one of the years best. Pros: everything

    Cons: None

By far Killswitch Engage's best album to date. Very heavy, but melodic at the same time. Howard Jones is just as good on vocals as Jesse David Leech was. A Bid Farewell and When Darkness Falls are my favorite songs. Killswitch Engage are an aweso...me metal band, great work guys. Read more Less

    Pros: Everything

    Cons: Nothing

I haven't actually picked up this album yet, since it's not released for another day. But, you can listen to the whole album beforehand at www.KillswitchEngage.com. And listening I have been! This album completely kicks some serious behind! ... Every song is worth listening to, and cranking the volume. They even throw in a couple of musical interlude tracks (Inhale, And Embers Rise). The opening track "A Bid Farewell" hits you like a ton of bricks, and doesn't let up. The whole album is this way! Of course there are slower songs, but with plenty of crunch, the song "The End Of Heartache" comes to mind. Very good song. Killswitch also throws in a sorta ballad-type song "Rose Of Sharyn", but of course with a KsE twist.KsE has got a new singer on this album. Howard Jones I believe is his name. The dude totally blows me away with his range. Very versatile, he can growl, scream, and yet still sing melodically, which creates an awesome mood to the whole album. Every one of the guys in the band is extremely acomplished at his instrument, without going over the top (ala Dream Theater). If you're into melodic metal, I'd recommend picking this album up ASAP. Or at least check it out on the website. Right now, I think Best Buy is gonna be selling it at about 8 bucks. That, my friends, is what is known as a "steal."Standou
