Pros: Most Everything
Cons: Not Much
Alright well let me first say, this is one of Mariah's best CD's but thats not much coming from me as I think that about pretty much everyone of her CDs, however, this is SERIOUSLY a HOT TAMALE CD, especially considering its only 50 minutes a...nd 10 seconds long. Alright now to the review... 1. It's Like That- Can you say Hot Tamale? LOL This song is buzzing with forget-about-your-trouble
s energy. Truly liberating in instrument and in lyrics. Also, "Them Chickens is Ash and I'm Lotion" Classic....Bravato Mimi...LOL.---10/10 2. We Belong Together- This song pulls on the heart strings, she sings it so emotionally and just full of passion, and I can relate, thats always a plus. Her voice is just as powerful as ever as proven by the last note, and the lyrics once again classic. 10/10 3. Shake It Off- This beat is so hype, I was jammin from the first time I heard it. The Lyrics are Hilaria..LOL. Number 1 potential. Her voice sounds incredible. Even though its a break-up song, I'd put it on my answering machine...LOL. Great Song, More Mariah and JD magic. 9.9/10 4. Mine Again- Oh my Lord, this right now is one of my two songs on the CD. This song is so awesome, it could in my book go number 1 if it were released. This takes me right back to the 70's and I wasn't born til the early 80's LOL. This song should shut up all the haters who say "her voice isn't like it used to be", listen and weep. This song is classic Mariah. Truly Hot Tamale. 10/10 5. Say Something- I love this song, the beat is cool, very...well Neptunish  . Only real downfall for me is the cuss word in the first stanza. I personally don't curse and find it rather unattractive and well...not pleasant. (Please don't bite my head off) Mariah is still my all-time favorite singer, this changes nothing. Just wish it wasn't there (how kiddish can you get, I know, right), hey thats me, but the song as a whole is great. Snoop and Mariah have magic too. 8.9/10 6. Stay the Night- I am lovin this song, another song, that takes you back in the day. I love "Betcha by Golly Wow" so that made me like the song before even hearing it, and then hearing it make it even better. Vocals are Like WHOA, more hush hush to the HATTEERRSSSS, ROFL. It's Lookin like Kanye and Mimi have the Magic too. 10/10 7. Get Your Number- Hot Track, really, I mean wow...groovy....lol back to the 70's I go. Minor setback, the word "damn" said by JD, its like, could you have not thought of anything better to say, but again thats me. I love the song, Mariah brings down the house vocally once again, applause applause. 9/10 8. One and Only- I love this track couldn't help to think of "The One" from Charmbracelet. I love the fast almost rap singin thats MC does, I love that, takes me back to "Breakdown", "Crybaby" and "Clown". 2 giant cuss words blew me away again, LOL, I mean its not like their not blurred out but still aaah, anyway....LOL Let the rumors roll, Mariah and Twista a couple? People will make something out of nothin', great song overall though. 9.5/10 9. Circles- I love this, gives an "Always Be My Baby" vibe, I love this is free and fun. This displays Mimi's awesome range as many of the previous songs as well. I love when she sings in this register. Also when she says "Nothings the same" towards the songs end, I love that power she puts into it like I've said before: The Voice never left. 9.5/10 10. Your Girl- This is a great track, HOT TAMALE! I love the range she sings in, very retro which is a huge plus. This CD is definitely shuttin the mouths of the haters. The song is so good you don't notice its less than 3 minutes. 10/10 11. I Wish You Knew- LOL I couldn't help but laugh when I first heard the crowd cheering, but I like it, it was just funny, hehe. The High Notes were amazing almost made me think has she ever sung higher than that. I was like whoa. I like the whole verbal interlude, another plus. 9.5/10 12. To The Floor- Jam! Move! Groove! Yes I'm lovin this, this is a hot dance song. Mariah and Nelly have the magic, another very neptunic song LOL. I'd definitely like to see a video for that one, its great. 8.8/10 13. Joy Ride- The Beauty of this song brought tears to my eyes, the first time I heard it, and to think a 15-year old produced it, thats awesome. It's such a special song, my other Favorite, its Beautiful, its all awesome, the lead vocals, the BGVs, the music, lyrics, kinda like a combo of "Yours" and "Underneath the Stars" and then something else too....Ooh I love this so much. Standing Ovation. 10/10 14. Fly Like A Bird- Yes, Yes and Yes. This song is a true spirit lifted. No matter what the rest of the world is doin' I have Jesus to carry me away in His Loving Arms. The Vocals are Incredible, very powerful, another standing ovation, this song is beyond, Inspirational, its Gospel, the Choir coming in takes me right to church. And I absolutely Loved when she said, HIGHER JESUS. It's awesome to me, that she said His Name, a name people need to hear more of. This song is a joy in a christian's ears encouraging and a great way to end a POTENTIAL GRAMMY WINNING CD. 10/10 I'm on my feet for the whole CD. I love the range MC displayed in the CD, this one blows me away, the CD as a whole 10 out of 10. I'm a diehard lamb not sure how good my opinion would be if you are new to listening to Mimi, LOL. Great CD AWESOME, INCREDIBLE. I love you Mimi.. Favorite Song(s): Mine Again, Joy Ride. Least Favorite Song(s): Don't have one. The Best Thing about the CD is: Her Voice, THE VOICE,and the range and the blend of all that songs that harmoniously go together in Emancipating Mimi, very diverse in the best of ways. Some MC's best stuff, PERIOD, not in years, cause all her stuff is great. Downfall, if any at all: Would be the Cursing, thats it, nothing else. (By the Way I do know there was cursing in Charmbracelet too, for those who might think I hadn't heard it before) But Oh well just like Charmbracelet I'll get used to the cussing and almost like it, ALMOST ROFL Read more Less
