I'll be honest I didn't know what to think of this movie, I mean I am not a big Orlando Bloom fan, he’s a good actor don’t get me wrong, but I’m more the Johnny Depp kind of girl. I knew my favorite Food Network celebrity was going to be i...n the movie, Ms. Paula Deen. So I sat and watched the movie today, and I fell in love with it. Made me want to get home for a visit, you can take a girl out of Kentucky but you can’t take Kentucky out of the girl. It is a wonderful story about going home again and learning about your own family. You will laugh and maybe cry as you watch Drew find out about his family and most of all his Dad. Throw in the fact that he is a loner till Claire (Kristen Dunst) brings him out of his shell to the real world. It has real world aspects to it, like Kristen Dunst wearing a Markers Mark t-shirt and Orlando Bloom drinking Ale-8-One and than wearing an Ale-8 t-shirt. I don't know how well The movie did. They joked that the problem could be that Orlando didn’t speak with his accent, but more so that it was more a movie for and about a wonderful area of Kentucky, if you haven’t been there or even to the south than you really had a hard time understanding some of the underlying plot. I had spent the night in Elizabethtown back in 1986 and I remember the area being a nice quiet area and very beautiful. It was more laid back than anywhere we stayed on our way to and back from Texas. Most guys will say it’s a “chick” flick but I think it’s a family flick. Made me home sick for a laid back, slow paced way of life, and sure the heck made me hungry for a slaw burger and a ice cold Ale-8-One. Read more Less
