    Pros: pretty good special effects

    Cons: everything else

This movie is complete garbage, i went into it with high hopes, and in the begining i started watching the intro thinking okay this might not be too bad, but then, the worse happens. jennifer garner shows up as electra, in that out fit that looks gre...at on a cartoon, but horrible on her. I'm sorry to say, that jennifer garner doesnt fit this role at all, and the only reason she got the role is cause of her background of martial arts. the cherecter electra is supposed to move areound like a shadow in the night, instead you get a bunch of bricks just sitting there waiting to be moved. so this is basicaly how the movie goes, movie starts, we meet electra, we learn of how she is supposedly the chosen one, we see electra, we are disapointed, she fights some bad guys, she moves to isolated location that just happens to be next to a father and daughter =S. she then meets daughter, daughter introduces electra to father, electra grows attached to father and daughter, daughter and father then end up being apart of some screwed up plot, and the bad guys want them dead, daughter father and electra run, then fight, then hide, then its discovered the father and daughter have powers of their own, so then they run some more, then fight, then run, then fight, then win, then elextra leaves them and walks away. the end. the fight scenes are okay, the special effects are pretty good, but the overall store is a downpoor of horrible horrible misery. i found myself just fast forwarding to the fight scenes in which there was only 5 or 6 of. and during the dull talking and standing scenes that i did watch, i just.. well yah. i couldnt do anything but stare at how crappy the diologue was. oh yah, and why the hell was she introducing herself as electra to complete strangers when she was trying to be hiding. there are too many things wrong with this movie to make it good. the special effects are okay, but over all. its a bore. Elektra! Great Movie!

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Apr 4, 2005 | 2 out of 4 found this Elektra (2005) review helpful

    Pros: Great Movie

    Cons: Absolutely None

Elektra is a great super-hero flick. I really enjoyed it, and so did the people in the theater. You could just hear them cheering her on with suck excitement in their voices. The critics didn't give it as good reviews as I thought the movie deser...ved, but, if you check most of the publics reviews on the film, Elektra got some pretty positive feedback in. So, here I have divided the movie up in four groups to explain my point of view on each. Overall: Elektra was a very exciting movie. The action wasn't too much, but, was just enough not to make the movie uninteresting. The actors did a great job at the acting of their characters. The special effects were awesome. Elektra wasn't JUST action, but, it also had a well put together story to it also. I, among the other public (which is proven by their posistive feedback of this movie) really enjoyed this film. I can't wait to purchase it tomorrow on dvd to put with my collection. Picture: The picture was great. The theater it was playing on uses has great picture quality. The colors looked great on the screen. And, even if the theater screen had a crappy picture to it, the colors would've still looked great. I mean, the lush, green scenery for the movie; the nice, bright colors for the costumes and the special effects. It was all done to perfection. Sound: The theater in which this movie was playing on uses dts. So, the sound wasn't too shabby. I just hate how you can also hear people talking and the noise from the popcorn machine outside in the lobby while trying to watch a movie. Anyway, beyond that, the sound was good. So, I know it'll be way better when it comes out to dvd. Also, the background music was pretty well done. It set the right mood in just the right scenes. Also, I don't have the soundtrack, but, from the artists who sing on it, it sounds to be awesome. Maybe I'll pick it up sometime later in the next few weeks. Who knows? Features: And lastly, the reason I didn't rate the features is because I haven't watched them yet. After all, the dvd doesn't come out until tomorrow, so I'll have to wait until then to watch them. I have, however, saw the what the features are suppose to be from doing research on the computer, and it sounds like they might be pretty cool. Ya know, stuff like the making off...featurettes...sound
track samples...plenty of trailers (for instance, one for the upcoming Fantastic Four movie, in which they showed on the theater before the presentation of Elektra, and let me tell you, it was an awesome trailer.) So, From viewing my review of Elektra, you can probably tell how good the movie is (I give it 5 shiny stars, and two, big thumbs up) and how wrong most of the critics are. So, if you're into action movies that also has a nice plot to it with great characters and the actors who play them and not to mention great special effects, then Elektra if for you. I suggest, come tomorrow when it is available, to purchase it on dvd. If not that, then VHS. And, if not that, then rent it at least. I promise for any action, comic book, or Jennifer Garner fan that you'll love this movie.
