Electronic's debut album fuses Marr's impeccable riff-oriented songwriting, Sumner's yearning vocals, and mid-tempo post-acid-house beats not quite as hard-hitting as New Order's recent Technique LP. The singles "Getting Away With It" (with the Pet Shop Boys' Chris Lowe and Neil Tennant) and "Get the Message" are solid pop songs just as sublimely infectious as the best of New Order. The only misstep is "Feel Every Beat," a lightweight rap featuring none other than Sumner on vocals.
