This is the most amazing album I have listened to in years.

this is a great album. never before have i heard so many different styles of music skillfully merged into a pure form of HIP HOP! this is one of the few albums of the year 2002 (the only one?) that i found myself actually able to listen to all the way through without going 'gee...when can we move on from THIS track...'
i have been a common fan since he had two first names, and i always saw so much potential in him. however, i never thought he would perform to his potential because he originally suffered from the 'i only listen to hip hop syndrome.' however, as he gained an interest in soul and jazz, u began to HEAR those genres in his music and his music, thus, improved. (u remember soulful stevie in retrospect for life?)
apparently, common recently discovered classic rock. in particular, he seems to have recently discovered JIMI! jimi is a musician ANYONE who calls himself an artist should 'experience.' (shameless plug for u to pick up jimi hendrix's 'experience hendrix')
this album takes from so many genres, it at moments becomes busy, but it is still a classic and excellent offer to the hip hop table.

New Music and inventive styles are explored on this album. I love it but I love Common Sense old battle styles raps a little better. However,Common fans will be pleased to have the Circus in your backyard. Go check out his concert, it's crazy bannannazs!

I like Common, its just sometimes he acts to earthy for me. Actual instruments and spiritual lyrics are excercised on this album. Its a little better than (Like Water For Chocolate). I still like Common better when he battle raps but I guess he's trying to innovate. "Come Closer" with Mary J Blige might be one of the best beats ever. I like a few other cuts also. The Neptunes produced a couple of decent tracks on here. Common's a great lyricist, its too bad most of his fans didn't here about him until his 3rd album (One Day It'll Make Sense). His newer fans missed out on cuts like "Ressurection", "I Used To Love H.E.R" and "Soul By The Pound". Common's not as witty on the mic as he used to be but I would still buy him over wack rappers like DMX, Ja Rule and Nelly.

I'm not sure what record these other cats listened to but the Electric Circus I heard was more like an Electric Wreck. I'm a big Common fan but this cd was a far stretch from the tru hip hop that Common is know for. This has to be the worst record purchase I made in 2002. Not only did I not like it but everyone I let hear it agreed. So, Common go back to tha lab.

i got this cd last friday. it's monday and i've already listened to this
phucking refreshing to see REAL HIP HOP artists like common, like talib kweli and like the roots taking hip hop to the next level. i've been down with common long before he was common (anyone remember common sense "breaker 1/9" or the "resurrection" discs). being a TRUE HIP HOP fan, it's nice to get a break from the quasi-commercial

if you want real hip hop, listen to this album. it has way better content than jay-z's stank azz album. fo sha!

This album is a must get for the hiphop lover. I poped this album in and just was amazed by the mix of jazz/funk/soul and the touch of hendrix style on certain songs. Songs like I am music brings it back to the old style of jazz. Come Close shows the true feelings of a artist in lyrics. If you dont have this album now I suggest you get it soon. Peace.
