Initially led by singer John Kezdy and guitarist Earl Letiecq, Chicago hardcore punkers the Effigies ran through a series of developmental EPs in the early '80s, then made their LP debut in 1984 with the mature For Ever Grounded. 1985's Fly on a Wire found Robert O'Connor stepping in for Letiecq and the group overall in something of a holding pattern. 1986's taut, tense Ink proved to be the Effigies' strongest, most aggressive and focused LP yet.
