Edson Cordeiro is a technical counter-tenor who sings an eclectic repertory ranging from Brazilian classic samba to Mozart and Verdi, from the Rolling Stones, disco music, and Prince to Häendel -- everything embedded in a pop frame. Having recorded several albums, his European performances since 1994 were successful. From age six to 16, he sang in his hometown's Baptist church while also taking part in amateur plays and musicals. He became a professional in 1988, working as an actor and vocalist in a Brazilian staging of the musical +Hair. In 1989, he toured through several European and Central American countries, U.S., and Mexico as an actor in the play +O Doente Imaginário (Molière). After his first solo show in Rio in 1990, which was an immediate success, he was invited to record. His first album came in 1992, through Sony.
