"The thriller that never was"
Ed gein had me scared through the whole movie.It wasnt one of those other "scary" movies it had you guessing what ed was going to do next.Which was also supprising you never knew what was going to happen rent or buy this movie trust me ull be scared.

This movie turned out to be quite a let-down after recently reading the book "Deviant" by Harold Schechter. The movie in no way showed any amount of detail that is discussed in the book (which is typical). The movie mainly revolved around the couple of murders that Ed was responsible for, but in now way went into detail about the grave robbings or the other mind boggling thing that Ed did with the corpses thereafter.
If you want a much better understanding of what this guy was really about.... read the book!Was this review helpful? Yes - NoEd Gein
Not a terrible depiction of arguably the most deranged murderer in American history but i feel they should have shown more of Ed in his crazy human-skin suits.Overall i enjoyed this film not once but twice.Oh correct me if i'm wrong but isn't the actor who portrays Ed the same man who was Charlie Manson in Helter Skelter!?

The only reason I'm giving the movie one star is because they actually got the name of the serial killer correct. I really enjoyed the book, "Deviant" written by Harold Schechter about Ed Gein but the movie, in no way, shape or form depicts any of the horrific events or scenes described in the book. The only scene I found intense at all is when he cut his finger with the knife. The only believable scene, is what could be actual footage from back in 1957, of the area when the events took place. In this day and age with makeup, computers and technology, I think a lot could have been done with the movie but apparently no one took the time to do so. Interesting subject, bad, bad movie!!

ED GEIN HAS GOT TO BE ONE OF THE MOST HONEST AND TRUE TO THE STORY NON-DOCUMENTARY TYPE MOVIES OUT THERE. THIS MOVIE WASTES NO TIME WITH SPECIAL EFFECTS, EXCEPT THE ONES TO SHOW THE BODY PARTS, AND THE AFTERMATH OF ED'S DESIRES, BUT IT GETS TO THE POINT. I HAVE READ SEVERAL BOOKS ON ED GEIN AND HAVE BEEN FACINATED BY HIS CRIMES FOR A LONG TIME. THIS FILM IS NOT FOR CHILDREN, BUT IF YOU HAVE SOME OLDER MATURE TEENAGERS THAT WANT TO SEE WHAT REAL HORROR IS LIKE....JUST LET THEM VISIT ED'S HOUSE. THEY THANK YOU FOR IT LATER!!!

I haven't yet viewed this film, but judging from the trailer, and the story line, who needs to know anything else to know that this is going to be a five star flick?
