Westwood has produced a full update to one of the original real-time strategy games with Dune 2000, a quasi-sequel to Dune II, itself a sequel to a graphic adventure simulation. This retelling of the classic story brings the game closer to the film by David Lynch with music and graphics that are true to the director's vision.

The plot is simple; three houses have been offered a chance to impress the Emperor, and whichever house mines the most spice wins. There is the noble Atreides, who are secretly working on a technology involving sound while working to create an alliance with the native Fremen. They face the evil House Harkonnen, and their special support from the Emperor, as well as the House Ordos, a secretive society who trusts no one.
