    Expected Nothing Less

    Pros: Unique, nice sound quality

    Cons: Definately not your anti-depressant.

If you like the previous albums you'll like this. Portishead is still the best Trip-Hop. If you like Mono, and even something as mainstream as Garbage I'm sure you'll like this c.d. and artist as well.

    Portishead - Dummy

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Sep 16, 2001

Impresionante. Insuperable. Enternecedor. Patético. Triste. Todo lo que se diga de este disco es nimio; una música visceral y desgarrada como una amputación en quirófano, triste y lúgubre como el entierro de un niño. Es prácticamente insuperab...le. Por favor, escúchalo. Read more Less

es lo mas conmovedor que he escuchado...

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Aug 27, 2001

Este es el mejor album de los noventas, sin lugar a dudas. La voz de Beth, los arreglos de Geoff, las cuerdas de Adrian...sencillamente estremecedor. Gracias, Portishead por existir.

    Its dark

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Jul 27, 2001

Portishead arent as layered and complex as massive attack, but they convey just as much feeling and emotion. I guess they sound more *real* than massive attack. Very dark and eerie album.

    Not depressing but fun

Instead of sulking through this album, try to bounce your booty through its heavy beats. It's really fun.

    Misunderstood

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Apr 14, 2001

A lot of people say that this album is great if you're depressed butit's not only about the mood. Portishead transforms you to another world. It's eerie but beautiful at the same time. Dont label them under a genre because they deserve to just be ...themselves. You're missing out if you dont listen to this. There's a magical quality on their sound that gets you hooked. I love it. A differing view-point

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Nov 6, 2000

After being introduced to the genre of trip-hop by Massive Attack, I decided to check out Portishead's first CD. And unfortunately, I found it too surreal and dark for me. The focus seemed shifted away from the beat and the individual elements and i...nstead focused on an environmental sound, which I thought sounded too flat. I like those rolling pianos, hard beats, and strong contrasts. And unfortunately, I didn't get it on this album. Instead, I got something overly simplistic and overly melancholic, soft and flat. The lyrics, which were good, don't seem to match with the sound. There was no spark, no emotion, not even pain. I found the instuments simply dark and soul-less.If you want Radiohead meets trip-hop, this album is probably right for you. On the other hand, if you can't stomach Radiohead, like myself, this album could just be too dark. Read more Less
