    My first Aphex Cd...

    ...and what an experience it was. Encouraged by a friend to buy ANY Aphex Twin album I naturally selected his latest, unaware of the musc style he played (I only knew it'd be electronica) I went and got it, went to work, put the cd in the computer an...d had the scariest, weirdest experience of my life!!! By the 3rd track I had to turn it off, but I was so excited to hear the whole thing, so after work I went to get some tequila (by the way, I'm mexican, so it was the obvious) and played the album TWICE. I had not felt anything like that since I was 14 and had just finished listening to The Cure's Pornography album. Scared, saddened, hyper, scared again...Not for everyone though and once I got his other albums I can see why some people could not appreciate it, but some tracks are so disgusting and cruel to the ear that they become beautiful after 30 seconds.     like all aphex twin cd's when you hear that it is comeing out you expect something.... and then you hear it and go....what the f*ck! this is one of those cd's. you won't like it at first...but you will get used to it and like all his other cd's learn... to love it in it's own unique way... i like how he doesn't do the same dam thing every album.... if he did then he would be like everyone else... if you get this cd for one reason......get it for the son vordsobin...or how ever you spell it.... i love that song and it is a good example that aphex twin not only puts together crazy songs...but can write a melody and make a beautiful peiice of music Read more Less

    strange but lovely

    This is quite an original album and it gets better everytime you listen to it. I find the whole album to be one long continuous song. After listening to Drukgs, I'm definitely going to listen to more of Mr. Jame's albums.

    Richard is at it again, this time with a new approach. Now he has sprinkled bits of piano and classical melodies between his usual heart-racing fast ambient-techno songs. It is basically a combo of all his old stuff, but then again, his old stuff w...as sick!!! Hot tracks: Disc 1- 2,8,10 Disc 2- 1,5,9,12 Enjoy, and make sure the bass is pumped! Read more Less

    Advice From a True Fan

    I admit, this album definately doesn't live up to other aphex twim albums, but it does have some surprises. There are a few tracks that just have piano, and they are completely different from anything ever produced by James. I think that James is a...lways throwing surpirses into every album. He is exploring a new path, and I think he is taking the right step forward. If he can only combine the classical sounds with his modern antics, I think he would have a fantastic album. This cd however just gives you a taste of different music forms; some classic, some harsh, some ambient, and are defined as such in every track. I think combining those music types may enhance the listening experience as does his other albums. Read more Less

    All-dressed album

    Listening to this album is like listening to to all the previous albums that Aphex from Selected Ambient Work 85-92 to Richard D. James album and Window Licker EP at the same time. It goes from a sinfull piano melodie to hardcore drum and bass. Is it... bad or good this way ? Well, the album might sound a little bit disturbing for the brain, but that's why we like Aphex Twin!     The greatest living composer/

    All this other stuff released this year IMO doesnt even come close to thegenius that is consisted on RDJ"s DruKQS.Time will prove the naysayers wrong, trust me..The album reeks of emotion and sheer beauty unlike anything else releasedthis year.So wha...t if itsn't all that innovative, its still leaps better then the restIMO..Reasons of dissapointment might be that the expectations and the waitinglength for the release might have been too much and too long..Whoopdie doo...A lot of the so-called innovative stuff released this year lack total soulIMO, and in terms of drawing blood from a machine RDJ is the bloody king...Drukqs is innovative enough to even be there with the rest of them...addedto that this album has far more variations then anything else released as oflate...If ya think ya got him figured out, he might be fooling you now, since hecould quite easily come up with anything so advanced out of nowhere, whoknows...This seems like a purging all the personalities of RDJ kind of an album,just to get ready to go on to the next phase, who knows.But nonetheless, I DO think this is an album that is unparalelled in termsof sheer enjoyability and emotion compared to anything else.Sorry, But I found Confield to be a pile of Crap and I like Autechre...A year from now...I guarantee you that DRukqs will already be considered aClassic albeit a little controversial because of its seemingly incohesivenature ( who cares?)...Nah, Album of the year by far.....IMO....Peace Read more Less
